While he definitely wasn't a local, Harry could at least count as company. He could use a little bit of it himself too. A few months in Kannagara had gotten him settled well enough. He had a job, was making rent relatively on time, and had even gotten wards up on his room at the ryokan. There were a few things his new home was missing though. Both of them happened to be big and furry.

When Harry noticed Blue, he couldn't help thinking of Mouse, his woolly mammoth sized dog. Seeing how happy this dog was, Harry had to figure Mouse would also manage well enough at Kannagara. Of course, being who or what he was, Mouse managed well enough just about anywhere. Blue might not be Mouse, but maybe petting another animal would fill some of that loneliness Harry was feeling.

"Someone looks happy."

Having been following the scent of what she was pretty sure were pork dumplings Blue cocked an ear back at the voice, turning her head to look at the human curiously, tail still waving almost lazily back and forth.

She gave him a doggy grin, turning on her heels to trot back toward him, a bit of a bounce in her step. This man officially had her attention- he looked a bit like a younger Pops and his scent...

Well, it was more than enough to raise her curiosity- the spicy/dusty almost effervescent smell making her nose tingle, bright blue eyes focused now on him.

"Guess you are friendly, huh?"

Harry knelt down and reached out to rub her ears, a warm smile on his face. She wasn't anywhere as big as Mouse, but at least she wasn't one of the tiny little pocket sized things people called dogs. Harry's cat was bigger than those things. Then again, Mister was bigger than a lot of things.

Leaning into the very nice scratching Blue took the opportunity to give the man a closer once-over with her nose, sitting down and eyes closing.

Yep- he still made her nose tingle, though not in a bad way, like Darcia had.

Blinking her eyes open again she noticed that he didn't look like the villagers here either, looking about as out of place as she did. Odd, she thought, head tilting and tail starting to thump against the ground- right before it hit something.

Turning her head back and and seeing the rectangular metal thing again Blue found herself on her feet and growling at it, though she didn't make a move to bite it (the first time had given her a nasty shock, she wasn't keen on repeating the experience).

It made a chirping noise, as if it was mocking her. For something that had no feet it had a disturbing habit of following her...

Blue gave the man a helpless, confused look- clearly stating without words 'what the hell IS this?!'

Ginko, free of both the fever and Jason's ministrations--not that he had really minded the last part--was finally able to get out and about without guilt. He was still trying to take it easy though, so he hadn't wandered very far from Jason's house--just far enough to look for some herbs in the nearby woods, and he'd managed to sell a few things in the marketplace, too. Now he was sitting outside one of the small restaurants, eating some dried meat and thinking about what he should do next.

The large black dog that wandered by got little more than a raised eyebrow out of him. Big, and pretty healthy-looking for a stray; impulsively, he held out what was left of his lunch to the animal. "Hey, there."

Blue never turned down food when it was offered (except when it smelled wrong, she wasn't stupid) and blinked at the white haired human, taking an obvious sniff of the air before ambling over, tail waving back and forth.

She blinked, scenting the tell-tale dregs of illness on him, though that was mostly covered by the fact he smelled like medicine- tart and green.

Coming to a stop in front of him she sat down before leaning forward to delicately take the proffered meat, ears perked forward as the food disappeared quickly, eyes alight in obvious curiosity.

"Aren't you a beauty," Ginko said, a hint of admiration in his voice. He didn't know much about dogs, but the huge black dog remind him of the wild animals he sometimes spotted slinking through the twilight or the early morning hours back in his world.

He held out one hand for the dog to sniff, checking it over with an eye for injuries or anything of the kind. He couldn't see anything just by that, and the dog hadn't been limping or walking strangely when it had come over to eat his food. "Do you belong to anyone? Or are you just good at living on your own? You're pretty healthy-looking for a stray."

Ginko was talking to himself, mostly, but he was also used to talking to animals and mushi like they could understand him. It helped to say his inner thoughts out loud, to organize them and decide what he was going to do next.

Yes, this place had her full approval, Blue happily thumping her tail against the ground as she did a bit of checking over of her own, memorizing his scent before nosing at the offered hand. Her head tilted slightly as he spoke, finding his voice soothing as she debated answering him.

Though it sounded like he was talking to himself for the most part, the action reminding her of Pops sharply.

Moving closer so he didn't have to stretch, Blue sat down beside the man and leaned against him slightly, warm body pressing solidly against him.

Jim had managed to slip away from the house - not that it was all that difficult in the first place - and decided to wander around the streets of Mizusato.

Karen, his beloved family member and crocodile, was sleeping back at the household with Asuka. He would've stayed behind to enjoy Asuka's company, but she seemed tired from her job, so Jim opted to explore a little - maybe pick up some meat for dinner - before heading back to start dinner preparations with Judai.

He reached the market vendors, and after trading off some coins for some meat - Jim still needed to thank Niko for those money lessons - he started to head off back to the house.

Until he spotted a dog with a luminous, deep blue coat.

Jim bent down, a chunk of meat in his outstretched hand as he whistled softly. "Wow, aren't you a beauty."

Blue officially liked this village, obligingly trotting over as more food was offered, ears tilted forward at this new human. It didn't hurt that he complimented her either.

Nose flaring and eyes taking in the mans' dress (especially the hat- the thing was one of the larger that she'd ever seen) she blinked as the smell of lizard hit her. Confused, but not put off by it she calmly sat down before daintily taking the offered food between her front teeth.

It didn't take long before it was gone, Blue licking her chops and tail wagging at him, bright blue eyes focused on his face as she attempted to place the lizard smell.

Jim gingerly reached out, scratching the spot behind her ears as he smiled. He always loved animals, dogs as well. Although, as Jim tilted his head and placed himself sitting on the ground before her, he scanned the dog with his visible cobalt eye. 'She must be a mixed breed, or something. She's a little larger than a normal dog.' He thought while rubbing a calloused palm over her head.

"Where you headed, ol' girl?" Jim was more than curious as to why a dog such as this was alone; he hadn’t seen many since his arrival in Kannagara. Besides, she seemed tame and friendly, so she more than likely wouldn't be a stray. "You going off to find a friend of yours?"

He didn't like to say master or human. He never thought of himself as Karen's master. Surely, when a human and animal - crocodile, in his case - had a bond like he had with Karen, there really weren’t master or animal titles to be found.

Only the word family was true to that type of bond.

Not averse to getting some friendly scratches, Blue blinked placidly at the human as he questioned her, letting out a sigh. She wished she had a friend to find here- though that was a bit of a loose term, considering she didn't really know that many people in the first place.

It was beside the point that she'd seen a few of them die right in front of her...

With a grumbling huff Blue flopped down to lay on her stomach, gazing up at the human mournfully. Now why did he have to remind her of that?

Matt was making a tobacco run when he spotted the dog who looked too well-fed and friendly to be one of the local wild ones. He hadn't ever had or known pets in his world, but he felt a connection with animals now that had gone a long way toward alleviating his nervousness (the nervousness of a guy who'd never been closer to nature, back home, than the suburbs) around them.

A little of that uncertainty might still have been apparent when he held one hand out to the dog in invitation for it to sniff him. That was what you did, right?

"Hullo."

At the soft greeting, Blue turned toward him, tail wagging and noting the distinct tobacco scent, completely relaxed as she walked toward the proffered hand.

She sat down and pushed her head against it, tail wagging and trying to show she wasn't a threat.

"Hey."

Matt got a little more daring, and skritched behind one of the dog's ears.

"You're nice, huh?" It seemed obvious she wasn't a stray. Matt wondered where her home was.

Happily leaning into the touch bright blue eyes blinked up at him, tail thumping against the ground as she silently agreed. This one seemed a bit twitchy, but thankfully there was nothing too strange about his scent. For once, out of all the others she'd met so far today, he seemed to be the only one who didn't smell off in some way.

It was comforting.

Aurican, by the will of magic, can take many forms. Knowing that a massive, golden dragon unseen before by lesser beings in this world will cause a massive panic, he goes by various unassuming and harmless forms.

Today he takes the form of a shaggy, yellow-brown dog, with pale yellow eyes.
So he trots along, unnoticed by the natives, noting the village. Such strange architecture! He'll give his left wing just to learn more about it.

Having been resting by a porch, listening contentedly to the children yelling and playing in the street, Blue lifted her head at the new dog, ears perked forward.

He wasn't much bigger than she was, but there was something slightly off about his scent. But he wasn't a wolf, she could tell at least that much. Tail thumping against the ground Blue cracked a grin, letting out a soft woof in greeting.

Aurican turns and sees the dog. The beast looks like it has some wolf in it, but he's not entirely sure. He doesn't familiarize himself with wolves very often, except the occasional time when he guarded the kills of the shy elves.

He wags in tail in reply and woofs back.

Pleased that this dog seemed friendly enough Blue rose to her feet and trotted over, head tilting slightly. The other dogs she had seen were fairly rangy, scrawny and mean. Most of them more liable to attack her than anything else. This was a nice change.

Ears flicking around to make sure there weren't any humans close enough to hear her Blue stopped a few paces away from him, tail waving slowly back and forth. "Hi. I'm Blue. I'm trying to find out some information on this place- have you been here long?"

Considering it was another dog Blue wasn't too worried about scaring the other- it helped he was about her size too.
