Orli as Not-an-idiot and Liv as sweet.
Whew! I'm glad you saw it as non-idiotic Orli. I felt I was on sketchy ground with having him not understand Viggo's art, but the message was more that...let's face it, Viggo's a little incomprehensible at times. :) And...I can't help myself. I've developed complete Liv adoration. I'll be writing Liv fic next, watch. *sigh*

Your choice of words are what I like best about your fics. Philistine... liberated. Just adds a real kick to your story.
And the last line is wonderful. I understand how he feels. I mean, I love art, but sometimes the artist is trying to convey something beyond my abilities to comprehend... And for Orli, to not understand Viggo's art when he wants to so badly, it has to hurt.
*snugs him*

Thank you for the comments about the words! I think that was the most difficult part about this challenge--finding words that would convey exactly what I wanted within the word limit. I pretty much wrote the story backward.
Hee, for the art--I love art and I love Viggo, but I'm really not good with poetry and sometimes I think Viggo's obscure for the sake of being obscure. I'm glad the frustration got across. (And because I'm a big dork, did you notice the first letter of each paragraph spells out Viggo's name? Can we say "too much time on her hands"?)

I agree with you about Viggo's poetry. I think a lot of people are like that though. I think a lot of famous books are only considered great works of literature because they're so obscure and frankly, stupid. Like, the reviewers go, "Wow. I didn't really understand it. It must be great!" Annoying I tell ya. Haha.

And YES! I know exactly what you mean. Faulkner comes to mind. And James Joyce, who nearly sent my entire AP English class into a nervous breakdown. Joyce is obscure but Faulkner is TERRIBLE. Year ago a friend pointed out that if JRRT posted LotR, the way it was written, to a fanfic mailing list, he'd probably get flamed. :P
