Jonghyun watched as Kibum struggled to pull his heavy suitcase up the short staircase. Kibum was obviously having a hard time of it, if the small beads of sweat at his temples were anything to go by.

“Here, let me help you.”

Jonghyun should have known something was up when Kibum didn’t even protest but merely stepped back and waved Jonghyun forward. Jonghyun bent down to pick it up and almost fell face-first; it was much heavier than he had expected.

“Jesus, Kibum, how much did you pack? It’s only two days!”

“And two nights. Lift with your knees,” was Kibum’s reply. In the end, they both grabbed a corner and were able to heft it up the remaining steps.

Kibum raised a hand to knock on the door but Jonghyun held his wrist back, pausing for a long second and making a point of looking around.

“What are you doing?” Kibum asked, in that tone he often used when he thought Jonghyun was being dumb. Jonghyun probably didn’t mind it as much as he should have.

“Making sure Minho hasn’t followed us this far,” Jonghyun told him honestly, and Kibum burst into laughter. Really, this was why he endured the tone - because, more often than not, it ended in Kibum’s loud, uninhibited laughter. Jonghyun smiled when barking could be heard from the other side, and neither of them had time to knock before the door swung open to reveal his mother.

She enveloped him in a tight hug while Roo ran circles around his feet, yipping happily.

“Happy birthday Mrs. Kim,” Kibum greeted her with a slight bow, although it was unnecessary considering she then hugged him too.

“Come in.”

Sodam was waiting inside, where she greeted Kibum just as warmly. It should have annoyed Jonghyun how well the two got along because of how good they were at teaming up to pick on him, but in truth it pleased him immensely. His mother always spoiled Kibum, and when Jonghyun had asked her why a year or so ago, she had replied that it was because he made her son happy. Jonghyun had cried (and his mother had hugged him).

They went up to Jonghyun’s old bedroom to unpack their things and Jonghyun couldn’t fight the smile growing on his lips at being back in this room. It held a lot of memories, many of which he hoped to never forget. He shook his head to chase away the nostalgia and watched fondly as Kibum plopped down onto his old bed.

“Ah, another single bed,” he said instead.

Kibum chuckled, warmly this time. He ran his hand across the bedspread as though deep in thought. “It’s not like we don’t have practice,” he spoke through a smile.

“True, but this one’s special. Remember when you were a shy, blushing virgin?” Jonghyun asked as he sat down beside him. “Yeah, neither do I.”

“Shut up,” Kibum scolded him, although not as vehemently as he would have on any other occasion. Jonghyun knew the memory of it made him reserved; their first time had meant so much to the both of them. “Not my fault you were already a slut,” Kibum teased back, knocking Jonghyun’s shoulder with his own.

“I thought we’d both agreed that girls didn’t count,” Jonghyun teased back, their inside joke. “And it was one girl. Well, one and a half.”

Kibum chortled a bit at the joke and, at the risk of sounding even gayer, Jonghyun had to admit he was glad they had found each other when they did. Things had been instantaneous with Kibum; first as friends but soon after as more. Minho sometimes teased them about how they had been practically dating since the moment they met.

“Besides, you’re the one who kissed like a million girls in middle school. And I remember everything about that night, by the way,” Jonghyun announced proudly.

“Really,” Kibum spoke in a tone that sounded very much like a challenge.

“Uh-hun,” Jonghyun hummed, a self-satisfied smirk stretching his lips when Kibum looked at him with wide eyes. “I remember you wore the cutest pair of white boxer-briefs.”

“Freak, you remember my underwear?”

“Of course,” Jonghyun replied, smirk still in place. “I also remember you being so nervous you were shaking.”

“And you were so nervous you blurted out that you loved me,” Kibum countered, poking a finger into the center of Jonghyun’s chest. “Twice.”

“Can’t fight the truth,” Jonghyun answered, please to notice Kibum was blushing a little from their talk. “You know, we could always re-enact it.”

Kibum chuckled, a little forcefully, only to stop when he realized Jonghyun wasn’t joining in.

“Oh, you’re serious?”

Jonghyun nodded, scooting over closer. “Do you still have those boxers? Actually, anything white will do.”

“I didn’t pack anything white. I don’t think I own anything white because I’m not a - what was it? - shy, blushing virgin anymore,” Kibum told him pointedly.

Without a word, Jonghyun suddenly stood up and reached into his old dresser.

“Are you really-?” Kibum asked from the bed.

“Yep.”

“Gross.”

After a moment of fumbling, Jonghyun was holding out a pair of white briefs that looked like they hadn’t seen daylight in years.

“I dare you to wear these throughout dinner.”

With a glare that spoke volumes, Kibum wordlessly snatched the underwear out of Jonghyun’s hand and proceeded to strip his pants right in the middle of the room. Jonghyun stared dumbly as Kibum then pulled down his blue (and considerably nicer) briefs, stepping into the white ones and pulling up his pants at the same time. He dropped a peck to Jonghyun’s lips and pressed the blue underwear to his chest before sauntering out of the room, leaving Jonghyun a little dumbstruck and holding a handful of blue fabric.

Dinner was delicious, followed by a movie and then another after Jonghyun’s mother had retreated to bed and wished them good night. They ended up watching old drama reruns with Sodam until the early hours of the morning and when Jonghyun and Kibum fell into his single bed, they found sleep right away.

The first thing Jonghyun did when he woke up was to peek down at Kibum under the covers. Surely enough, his boyfriend was still wearing the white underwear. They had been too tired to do anything the previous night, so Jonghyun took it upon himself to change that.

He wormed his way down under the covers and slowly slid the white briefs off of Kibum. The boy woke up just as Jonghyun was sliding them past his ankles, rolling onto his back and letting out a sleepy groan.

“What are you…” he began to ask, voice gruff with sleep, only to stop when Jonghyun took both his hands and twisted the white fabric around his wrists, tangling it so that they were tied together in front of him. Jonghyun then crawled on top of him and into the circle of his arms, Kibum’s hands coming to rest at his nape.

“Hey,” he huffed, grinning back when Kibum granted him a groggy smile. It was Kibum who pulled him down for a kiss, slow and warm and sloppy as Jonghyun was more than glad to let him lead. His lips were puffy, soft, his tongue even softer and Jonghyun almost whimpered at the loss when he pulled back. Although, he couldn’t complain when long fingers threaded into his hair and massaged his skull for a moment before tugging him downwards. Jonghyun laid kisses along his neck, his collarbone, then down the center of his chest as he let himself be guided by Kibum’s hands. He was at Kibum’s navel, eyeing the dark hair below it and about to duck down once more when a loud thump on the door had him jerking sideways and rolling off the edge of the bed with an even louder thump.

Kibum grabbed at the sheet and pulled it over him with lightning speed, bound hands tucked below it, all too aware that the door had no lock.

“Uh, is everything okay?” Sodam’s voice sounded through the door.

“Y-yes,” Kibum answered shakily, meanwhile Jonghyun merely groaned from where he lay, spread-eagle on the floor.

“Ooookay,” she went on, “anyway, breakfast’s ready.”

At the sound of retreating footsteps, Kibum rolled over to peer down at Jonghyun.

“You have got to break this habit,” he said, not entirely joking. His hair was a mess, his lips plump and red and before Jonghyun knew it they were twisting up into a cocky smirk. “Of all people, singles should be big enough for you.”

Jonghyun let out a growl and scrambled back onto his feet to tackle Kibum onto the mattress. Kibum was chuckling throughout their impromptu wrestling match, waving the white briefs around in forfeit when Jonghyun almost had him hanging off the edge. This wasn’t the kind of wrestling Jonghyun had had in mind when he’d woken up, although it also did a good job of getting Kibum sweaty and panting. They would have to try their luck again later; Jonghyun wasn’t quite ready to give up on his re-enactment plan just yet.
