Favorite Pizza in the universe:

Marion’s Piazza in the Dayton, Ohio area, hands down.  Mushroom, sausage, pepperoni and (if I’m eating by myself) anchovies.   Yes, I like anchovies on pizza, so long as they don’t have bones.

food, ohio, dayton, personal

That's something I can't address, because it's really not my thing. Susan, who likes such things, likes Lou Malnatis a lot.

Giordanos makes a good deep dish pizza and there is a location just a few blocks east of the WindyCon Hotel. They also deliver.

Well, there's a Giordano's 5 mins away. Go out of the mall onto Butterfield Road, and stay on the main road (don't peel off to the left when Butterfield splits from 22nd street) If you get to RT83, you've gone too far. North side of street.

Giordano’s
Pizza

17W280 West 22nd St, Oakbrook Terrace
Zone 5

630-530-7799
Credit Cards: A, DI, M, V

F & SA 11am - 12am, SU 12pm - 11pm

Stuffed pizza is excellent. Kathy is partial to spinach and mushroom. Last order taken 1/2 hour before closing.

Garcia's in Champagne Urbana just off the Quad on Green Street over thirty years ago. Getting a slice of sausage pizza fresh out of the oven for lunch was a real treat. It still makes my mouth water and it been twenty five years since the last time I been there.

The Garcia's lost that location and others near the U of I campus over the years and what stores that are left has change the recipe so much that the pizza is now only fair.

Everyone I know from Champagne says that, and even I've noticed that the quality of food in general down there is suckier that it used to be...

When I was at the U of I, the Campus Town area in Champagne was rumor to have more pizza parlors per square miles than any other place in the world. It did have a lot of places to get get pizza. Now, I believe the only place that serves pizza in Campus Town area is a lame Pizza Hut on Green.

I was reading my list of GT-ers-who-like-anchovies at Conclave (the usual "What to do for dinner?" discussion) and got a "Rittenhouse likes anchovies? Cool!" from someone. (Don't recall who, though.) One of these days, I'd like to get us all together for various ________ and anchovy pizzas.

Just checked ... minnehaha are on the list, too.

How in the world did you get a list of anchovy lovers with my name on it? Am I that infamous on my food tastes? (I tend to not mention it because if I do, people with think I will try to force them to eat the anchovies. Which I don't, but I'm always happy to share!

I can't recall if you told me or someone else (e.g. Valli?) did. I think you've been on my little list since back when it was a slip of paper in my wallet.

I mention it most times when pizza is ordered. If someone else has tried them and doesn't like them, that's fine, but I'll call them on it if they say, "actually, I've never tried them -- I've just heard they're bad." I've won a few converts that way. Also, that's how I was converted.

I hope I'm on it.

I hope &y &a is on it.

(As for ________ , no onions, no olives. I'm fondest of pepperoni and green peppers. Sausage is good. I'm neutral on mushrooms.)

Right now I think that both robot_grrl and I would be happy if we could find something close to us that was better than Pizza Rut (err.. Hut).

So far, no dice.
