The day after I got to Nazareth, I went to Tiberias, a city on the shores of the Sea of Galilee.  What a nice little city!  I rented a bike and decided I would try to bike around the lake (incidentally, the Sea of Galilee is actually fresh water) which is 55km.  Well, I think I got about three quarters of the way around and gave up.  I had been ( Read more... )

The day before I left Amman, I went to the bus station to book a ticket to get to the Israel/Jordan border.  The guy told me 12JD (about $20) but I couldn't make a reservation because the computer was down.  Ok, no problem, I would just go back at the appointed time the next day and get my ticket and go to Israel bright and early ( Read more... )

I got here 4 days ago.  I crossed the Gulf of Aqaba in the Red Sea into Aqaba from Egypt.  I was given all kinds of counsel about how to go about there including going back through Israel over land - which would have taken a long time because the buses don't always seem to coordinate not to mention having to cross TWO national boundaries.  It would ( Read more... )

What is it with these people?  Every two steps, I have someone asking me to have tea with them like I had nothing else to do today.  I mean, I'm all for meeting the locals but I also came to see stuff, to do stuff and just experience stuff.  Also, I HATE HATE HATE hot tea or coffee in this heat and I'm also VERY tired of hearing the same ( Read more... )

I woke up yesterday and decided I wanted to try scuba diving.  I signed up with a dive company and they taught me what it was all about and took me for an intro dive.   It was really cool only I couldn't pop my ears properly so instead of going down 12m, I ended up going 3.5m.  My left ear wasn't feeling to hot when I left the water.  It hurt quite ( Read more... )

Tonight at 11pm, I leave to hike up Mount Sinai.  Gonna watch the sun rise.  Gonna make me forget my troubles.

Also, I went shopping and bought a little bit of happiness.  And I think the cats are helping.
