We've been living in Newark, CA, for a week now. There are big posters at the edges of town proclaiming that Newark has zero tolerance for illegal fireworks. And then they have big stands dotting town that sell "safe-and-sane" (though they don't advertise that part) fireworks with these same posters on them. Even at the civic center. Sock Zone Karma
Today when doing my laundry I found that one of my socks was unmatched. Like that's never happened before--in fact, it has, many times, and I keep the singletons in an isolated drawer. I haven't added anything to that drawer for months, if not a year. I went to that drawer and found a match for today's singleton. How often does that happen? ( Read more... ) -
in-laws
My in-laws are living with us for a while to help take care of our son. Ordinarily one fights with one's in-laws, but here there is no common language. When my wife is home, it's a cacophony very much like the Gibberish Channel (in this market, KCNS, KTFS, and sometimes KMTP), and sometimes even _that_ is on in the room! Very belated summer Olymics observations
Like Easter or Christmas for Xtians, I pay more attention to the Olympics than other sporting events.
