Timing
Yesterday I pick up a prescription with the notation "patient to be seen before next refill". So I'm over at the doctor today and while waiting too long I look through yesterday's Palo Alto Daily. Some pages in, I spot an article announcing that demolition on the old Emporium building will begin today at 4PM. Surprise! Well, I live a few blocks from it, I'm home today, and my class doesn't start until 5:30, so looks like I'll have something to do.
I wander over there with my camera (good thinking) and they actually let us (neighborhood residents) into the parking lot with the dignitaries (such as they are) to watch. I gather that the guy who got to operate the excavator (Big Iron. It's my birthday next week and I want one of those.) is a doctor in the Camino Medical Group, for whom the new structure will be a clinic. Then the real operator got in and it was obvious he'd been doing it a while, as he raked the sheet-metal roof edging off.
I got lots of photos and a few movies.
