does anyone else remember the episode of The X-Files called "3" where Mulder is shaved by the female of the vampire trio because there are no mirrors in the house. The erotic nature of that scene was... well...

Everyone said that episode sucked - I disagreed at the time... still do, actually for a variety of reasons - and that scene was one of the *major* reasons why...

Peter Shaving... Mulder Shaving. wooooheeee....

Mulder or Peter *being* shaved... GAH!

…it didn’t hurt, of course, that Rose loved it when he let himself get ‘scruffy’.

Yeah, how many impromptu jumpings did it take him to work that out? ;P

…and better to do it while he was wide awake than to have to wake up any earlier than necessary the next morning simply to shave the stubble away.

Or do it half asleep and end up looking like you've put your face through a plate glass window?

…she’d simply smiled before dragging him into it, fully clothed, and turning on the water.

Hee!

He might also have used it to think of Rose when she was out of town, but that was another story (or two, or three...) entirely.

Doing laundry in the shower? The readers approve!

You'd just better watch yourself or one of these days she's going to catch you at it…

…that a flat like hers, with all of the modern amenities, should have something as simple as a heated towel bar, whilst a cottage like his gran’s, with all of the charm of a landmark, should remain unsullied. Then why aren't you making your coffee in a cast-iron pot in one of the ( ... )

Two. :D

That he is. Oh, naughty, naughty Peter.

Then why aren't you making your coffee in a cast-iron pot in one of the fireplaces?

Because then it just tastes burnt. XD

So she's officially Annie now. Yays. Has Rose met her yet?

Not yet--but soon. Probably over the summer, up in Scotland (although not necessarily at the cottage). Rose certainly knows the backstory, though.

he never really felt comfortable dumping things all over her.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

He'll be lucky if he doesn't look like a foamy Father Christmas by the time she's done.

Foam fight!

That he is. Oh, naughty, naughty Peter.

Certainly a far cry from Chapter 11: 'I will not think of Rose Tyler while taking a shower. I will not think of Rose Tyler while taking a shower. I will not...' *looks down* 'Oh, damn, I thought of Rose Tyler.' ;P

Because then it just tastes burnt. XD

If he wanted that, he'd just go to Starbucks! :D

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Has that always been the case, or is that something that developed out of him being (too) embarrassed to admit that things weren't going to work out/didn't work out with Loreen?

A word of advice: Quizno's sammies are not meant to be snarfed. I *hurt* now, because I inhaled and giggled at this.

is that something that developed out of him being (too) embarrassed to admit that things weren't going to work out/didn't work out with Loreen?

I don't think it was so much embarassment, as not wanting to be a burden. Although the embarassment and shame certainly figured in, especially once Loreen got him isolated and could really start laying into him.

He couldn’t stop watching her, his eyes periodically fluttering shut as she gently stroked a sensitive bit of skin.

Somewhere in the back of his mind he's probably been waiting for her to do this since A Shower Thing.

He felt her bring the flannel to his neck, wiping the remainder of the foam away, and couldn’t hold in the gasp as he felt her kiss his Adam’s apple.

I don't think anyone could resist that Adam's apple.

He sighed, placing a soft kiss in her hair, his love for her nearly overwhelming him. It was moments like this-the quiet ones where it was just the two of them, together, living a normal life-when he felt the most amazed, when he felt like the luckiest man on earth.

One wonders how the relationship would be working out if he'd gone to work for Torchwood instead of whoever he's with at this point. (Yes, I'm assuming, given AReT.)

“If I’d been begging to be discovered, I’d not have bothered with the towel.” He waggled his eyebrows, eliciting a laugh from her.

“Too true.”Is there a story behind that particular ( ... )

Oh, without a doubt.

One wonders how the relationship would be working out if he'd gone to work for Torchwood instead of whoever he's with at this point.

XD You're right, though--he's not with Torchwood.

Is there a story behind that particular statement?

I hadn't intended there to be...but there *could* be...

So glad I didn't have liquid in my mouth when I read this.

Hee! No worries--you got me back a little bit further down.

He is a master of the Tickle Fu.

Here, specifically. I was supposed to be Very Serious, Working On Important Things. And as soon as I read this, I cracked up...just in time for a co-worker to wander in. Oops! ;)

I loved this sweet glimpse into a nice, relaxed, average day for Peter and Rose. I guess EGT loses that particular bet, eh?It was a lot of fun to write this. But EGT didn't really *lose* the bet, as this was written before that bet went on the books. She'll only lose if I write more than one of ( ... )

Didn't intend to get you in trouble there!

Rose may well get him to the point he doesn't care. *g*

Oh, my! That really would be a show, wouldn't it?

And henceforth Peter and Rose's neighbors will develop an unusual interest in astronomy...

Not that they could be blamed, what with a nekkid Peter scampering about...

Oh, just gorgeous. Simple, elegant and lovely.

most of my spare time is now given over to trying to get the sequel to TWoT down on paper in some logical order.

And what a noble goal that is. Woohoo!

it didn’t hurt, of course, that Rose loved it when he let himself get ‘scruffy’.

Um, us too. (Which I'm sure is the *real* reason Peter was scruffy over a bank holiday weekend.)

He might also have used it to think of Rose when she was out of town, but that was another story (or two, or three...) entirely.

So, when do we get those, then? ;) And as you've already written A Shower Thing what will you call them? An Out of Town Thing, A Solitary Thing...? Sorry, I just couldn't resist that line, or the prospect of naked!wet!Peter playing board games by himself.

He’d never admit it to her, but he rather wished, more often than not, that the bath in the cottage was heated, too.

Awww! I bet she already knows it, too, and likes to watch him be stubborn.

He couldn’t bear the thought of using a straight razorOh, me neither. I always ( ... )

Peter aims to please *g*

Sorry, I just couldn't resist that line, or the prospect of naked!wet!Peter playing board games by himself.

Tsk. It would be "A Laundry Thing", clearly ;) And I've no doubt my perverse little muse will drive me to write it one of these days.

He has such a developed aesthetic sense (though certainly not a traditional one), but he also remembers the stories about all the important objects and rituals.

You really kind of hit it all in this paragraph, but I couldn't cite the entire thing. Peter's so observant, so tactile, that he'd have to connect with those things that are important to him; often, they were the only stable things in his life.

Poor Peter.

Completely unrelated, but I had a really weird dream about carving soapstone last night.

Huh. Oddly--and unusually--I dreamt about John Simm. Weird.

I love the image of this, and how physically connected they are, even when they aren't engaged in ( ... )

\o/ Peter smut is always awesome.

And that's one of the things that's so appealing about him, and makes him so genuine. He's so sweet and generous, even though he's gotten burned. I guess it's that he's also a lot more private, and so getting little glimpses of what makes him tick gives me warm fuzzies.

I dreamt about John Simm.

Sounds infinitely more fun than carving soapstone and running around middle school, high school, and college classrooms that had mysteriously merged into one massive maze of a building. There should not be that many teachers/professors in one place.

There are still a few (infrequent) hiccoughs, but not many.

Well, they wouldn't be Peter and Rose if they didn't occasionally have a row. Keeps things interesting, as long as they resolve it with relatively few scrapes.

Continuing...

“I should dearly hope you’ll not be shaving my nose, Rose.”

*is dead from cute*

She took a breath, as though to say something; held it; and finally released it, instead slowly leaning forward to place a soft kiss against the corner of his jaw.

Hmmm. I want to know what she was going to say, though I rather suspect it had something to do with how much she loved him. and just not being able to figure out how to put all those thoughts into a coherent sentence.

It was moments like this-the quiet ones where it was just the two of them, together, living a normal life-when he felt the most amazed, when he felt like the luckiest man on earth.

Oh, picturing them like this, cuddling, both so caught up in emotion...it's perfect.

running into the room after Rose meant the neighbours would have a free show.

Um...can I be a neighbor? Please?

and found him standing across the kitchen, smugly working to open the box of food. So, Peter's just going to sit there, naked, and eat takeaway? Rose is not going to last long. I hope ( ... )

Exactly right. How do you find words to describe that kind of emotion and depth of feeling? You can't. And so you settle for actions.

Oh, picturing them like this, cuddling, both so caught up in emotion..

These two are always going going going (at least, in the ficlets), that to see them quiet and content is just that much...happier. At least for me.

So, Peter's just going to sit there, naked, and eat takeaway?

He is. He's exceptionally comfortable in his own skin; I could see Rose still blushing a little bit as she looks at him, naked as a jaybird, happily snarfing up Singapore Noodles. And then he'd tease her, and she's retaliate, and then there'd probably be a bit of a food fight....

Days like this aren't really noteworthy, except because Peter and Rose are so happy together that everything feels special.Yes, exactly ( ... )
