My flight is in less than 5 hours and they just raised the security alert to Orange. Me thinks I'm going to have a *very* fun time at the airport today. Perhaps I should just leave now.

So I decided to go to NYC this weekend more or less for the heck of it. Well kinda. Due to my flight to Australia this year, I accumulated 24,000+ miles on United. With 25,000 miles, you get a preferred status with an airline. So I figured that I'm never going to get that close again. Family reunion was generally good. Couple of days of family, beach, seafood, and shopping. It thunder showered a couple of times, but that's normal. We saw the Lost Colony production on Roanoke Island. Enjoyable. Did make me wonder if we will ever find the remains of the colony ( Read more... )

Had signed up for a tour, so wandered over towards the Coluseum in the morning after the free *breakfast* offered by the hostel. Wandered first to the Palintine Hill and wandered around taking photos. Then went through the Roman Forum and some side streets on the way back to the Coluseum. Relatively boring day. Woke up, waited for 10 so that I could go to the store and buy film at a reasonable price rather than an insane tourist trap price.
