Europe Day 19: Madrid to Rome
Relatively boring day. Woke up, waited for 10 so that I could go to the store and buy film at a reasonable price rather than an insane tourist trap price. Rushed back to my hostel to grab my bag and check out. Made it to the airport in very good time. Everyone told me it would take an hour, I made it in about 30mins.
Checkin line was short, so got through that quickly. Carry-on check was also really short. So in the end had about an hour to kill once in the boarding area. Saw a person smoking right under a no smoking sign. Read my guide book for awhile.
We boarded, as usual, as soon as I buckled in, I fell asleep. 30 mins later I woke up, confused since we were still on the ground. Then heard the captian say something along the lines of, we're taking off now. Apparently we had been grounded for half an hour.
Lunch on the plane was alright. Standard meat and cheese on a roll, but for once the meat didn't look really dead, actually looked kinda fresh.
Landed 30 mins late. Went to collect my luggage at carasol 10 like they said it would be. Waited 20 minutes. 20 bags came out. We all waited. 20 mins later 20 more bags came out. Still like 50 of us waiting for our bags. Finally we discover that our luggage was now on carasols 9 and 11. Found my bag, breezed through customs and I was off.
Got to the hostel ok, but forgot that I was supposed to pay in cash. So didn't have enough on me, just enough for 2 nights. So I paid that, then went to find an ATM so that I could get cash for the next few days.
Then hunted down dinner. Found a place that sold pizza by the weight. So got about 2.60 euros worth of pizza. Yummy and filling.
Talked with people in the common room, then went to bed.
