It's in my nature to [over?]analyze things, because it's not enough for me to believe I am right, but to PROVE that I am. Perhaps I'm just paranoid. However, I'm more afraid of being cornered than of being pre-emptively defensive, which may be why arguments escalate in my head beyond the degree to which my "opponent" is actually willing to fight.
