Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 Chapter 4 Chapter 5 Chapter 6 Chapter 7
“No.” Ryan whispered, shaking his head slowly. “You can’t be here, you’re--”
“Dead?” George offered, cocking an eyebrow. “Yeah, possible. Or maybe Wentz lied.”
“No. I was there, he killed you.” Ryan took a step back and looked for the car keys on the ground.
“Did you see it?” George tilted his head to the side, confident. Ryan froze and looked at him again, his face paler than usual. “I thought so.” George chuckled, not looking away.
“You’re not him.” Ryan shook his head again and quickly reached for the keys. “I don’t know who the fuck you are and how you’re doing this, but you’re not him.”
“Are you a hundred percent sure, boy?” George locked their gazes together, seeing a flash of doubt in Ryan’s eyes.
Ryan didn’t reply, he simply jumped in the car and started it as quickly as he could, barely registering the fact that George didn’t move from where he was standing. Ryan slammed his foot on the gas and the wheels squeaked loudly. George watched as the car turned left at the first crossing and disappeared from his sight.
A few seconds later another figure joined him, a young girl with bright red hair.
“He’s not stupid.” George started to transform and just moments later a young blond guy was standing there instead.
“I know, Jeremy.” The girl replied, smirking. “I was counting on it.” She started to walk down the sidewalk and Jeremy followed her. “The more confused they are, the easier it’ll be for us.”
“Hayley.” An angry voice called from behind them. Both the girl and Jeremy turned, surprised.
“Hi, Butch.” Hayley grinned, facing the man. “I didn’t know you were in town.”
“You really thought you could mess with this kind of stuff without raising suspects?” Butch ignored Hayley’s words and glared, visibly furious.
“You’re assuming I care about being caught.” Hayley shrugged, unconcerned. “It’s not like you can stop me.”
“You have no idea what you’re doing.” Butch shook his head, his expression halfway between angry and worried. “The lines you’re crossing are there for a reason.”
“I know exactly what I’m doing, and we both know that when I’ll be done, this town will be a better place for people like us.” Hayley took a few steps in the werewolf’s direction, making sure to keep eye contact.
“And what about everyone else?” Butch asked, furious. “Think about the consequences, thousands of innocent people are gonna die.”
“Freedom has a price.” Hayley retorted, equally angry. “And those innocent people wouldn’t hesitate to kill us if they knew the truth.”
“You know that’s not true.” Butch took a deep breath, trying to sound reasonable. “Not all of them.”
“I don’t believe you anymore.” Hayley whispered, her voice filled with hurt and hatred. “We’re done hiding.” She turned to leave without another word.
“Hayley--” Butch started, but Jeremy reached him immediately, placing himself between the werewolf and Hayley. “Get out of my way.”
“No.” Jeremy just said, tilting his head to the side, then raised his hand and gripped Butch’s arm.
“Jeremy.” Hayley called from behind him. “Don’t kill him.”
“I don’t think it’s a good idea to let him go.” Jeremy protested without looking away from the man.
“Just make sure he won’t follow us.” Hayley ordered, then started to walk away.
“You’re lucky, you bastard.” Jeremy tightened his grip as Butch tried to get free and failed.
“What the hell are you?” Butch asked when he saw Jeremy’s eyes turn completely red.
“You know.” Jeremy addressed him a slow smirk, then raised Butch off the ground in a fluid movement. Butch’s eyes widened in surprise, but before he could say anything, Jeremy threw him across the street with no effort.
Butch hit the wall with his back and fell to the ground, a deep wound in his arm starting to bleed immediately. When he managed to look up Jeremy and Hayley were gone, and a couple of guys who were walking a few feet away turned to look at him. The werewolf stood immediately, a bit unsteady, and reached for his phone.
Trying not to limp, Butch reached a dark lane and hid in there, waiting for someone to answer. When a voice finally greeted him, he sighed in relief.
“Greta, I need you to come get me.” Butch whispered, closing his eyes.
“Where are you?”.
“Summerset Drive, it’s not far from the motel.” Butch looked around to make sure he was alone.
“Are you hurt?” Greta sounded worried, but Butch could hear she was already starting the car.
“I’ll be fine, just get here as soon as you can.” Butch bit on his lip, squeezing his eyes shut once again. Jeremy wasn’t a regular demon, but the werewolf was fairly sure his grip had left some kind of venom in his system.
“I’ll be there in a minute.” Greta replied immediately, and Butch snapped his phone closed.
He took a few deep breaths, then walked out of the lane, trying to hide his wound despite the blood on his shirt. A black SUV drove by five minutes later and Greta spotted him immediately. She stopped the car in front of him and Butch got in the passenger seat.
“What happened?” Greta turned to look at him, her face paling at the sight of his blood. “You need to see a doctor.”
“Demon.” Butch simply said, resting his head against the window.
“Shit, I don’t think I brought enough of my stuff for that.” Greta looked at the street, biting on her lower lip. “Maja.”
“No.” Butch opened his eyes and glared at the witch, determined. “Forget it.”
“Either that or you die.” Greta glared back, equally stubborn. When Butch didn’t say anything, she sighed, taking something from her pocket.
Butch tried to stop her, but his movements were slowed by the venom and when she pressed the little blue rune to his forehead, he fell back against his seat, asleep.
“Sorry, Butch, I had to.” Greta whispered as she put the rune away and started to drive towards the Wentz Manor.

As soon as Ryan stepped inside the house, he walked quickly towards the kitchen, trying to keep his face blank. He put the pizza boxes on the table just as a small group entered the room, laughing at one of Tom’s jokes.
“Hey guys, dinner’s here.” Ryan forced a wide smile and headed for the door.
“Where are you going?” Sisky asked with a frown, while the others started to look for their pizza.
“I’m not hungry.” Ryan shrugged, stopping on the doorstep.
“Yeah, well, that’s probably because you’re a vampire.” William addressed the boy a smirk, but it faded quickly when he caught the look in Ryan’s eyes.
“But you like pizza.” Brendon looked up too and lost his smile just like William.
“Don’t worry.” Ryan avoided their eyes and turned to leave. “I’ll come downstairs later.”
Ryan reached his room quickly, taking deep breaths and trying to clear his mind from the confusion. It didn’t take long before someone knocked on the door.
“Ryan?” Brendon’s voice was muffled by the thick wood, but Ryan could tell he was worried.
“I need to be alone right now.” Ryan sounded shaken, despite his efforts to hide it.
“Ryan, open the door.” William knocked again, alarmed. “What’s going on?”
“Leave me the hell alone!” Ryan hadn’t meant to snap, but he was dealing with too many emotions already and he couldn’t afford having Brendon and William fussing over him.
“Ryan.” William’s tone was serious now, almost authoritative, and Ryan knew his big brother instinct was kicking in. “Open the fucking door.”
Ryan hesitated for a few seconds, but when he heard William start to mess with the lock, he stood slowly from the bed and reached the door. He unlocked it and it opened immediately.
“Only Bill.” Ryan whispered, looking at the floor, and even from that distance he could sense Brendon’s confusion and hurt.
“But Ryan--” Brendon started, but William stopped him with a meaningful look and a little nod of the head. “I’ll wait here.” Brendon whispered as he looked away, and sat down across the small corridor.
William addressed him a little apologetic smile, but Brendon didn’t look up, and William closed the door. Ryan was back on his bed, sitting against the headboard with his knees against his chest and his eyes closed.
“What’s going on, skinny?” William asked softly as he reached the bed and climbed on it. The nickname usually made Ryan smile, but this time the vampire just kept his eyes closed and shook his head. “Ry?”
William sat down next to Ryan, their shoulders touching, and Ryan immediately turned and rested his forehead against William’s collarbone. Without thinking twice, William pulled Ryan in his lap, surprised and a little alarmed by that behavior. Ryan used to act like that after his nightmares, it was his way to seek comfort, but this time it was different.
William let Ryan straddle his lap and circled the boy’s thin waist with an arm, while his other hand went to Ryan’s back, stroking soothingly.
“Ryan, what happened?” William placed a small kiss on Ryan’s temple, feeling the boy exhale against his neck.
“I saw my father.” Ryan whispered, his voice still shaken.
“You what?” William’s hand froze and Ryan tensed again. “Ryan, look at me.”
Ryan pulled back enough for William to see his face, and there were tears ready to fall from his eyes despite his efforts to not let them. “I know it’s crazy, but I saw him, he was-- I came out of the pizzeria and he was there.”
“Your father is dead, Ryan, Pete killed him.” William resumed the movement of his hand, trying to understand what was going on.
“I know.” Ryan closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. “But I know it wasn’t a ghost. I felt his presence, he was there and he was alive.” He opened his eyes again and William’s heart clenched at the desperation they showed. “What if Pete lied?”
“Pete would never lie to you about something like this.” William tried to sound reasonable, and his other hand moved to Ryan’s back too.
“Really? I thought he lied to you about your parents.” Ryan snapped and William did his best to keep the hurt away from his look, the last thing Ryan needed was feeling guilty. Apparently he wasn’t very successful, because Ryan’s face dropped almost immediately and he looked down. “Sorry, I didn’t mean-- I--”
William placed a soft, innocent kiss on Ryan’s lips, stopping his muttering. “It’s okay.” He brought his hand to Ryan’s forehead and trailed a finger down to the tip of his nose in a slow move. Ryan relaxed at the touch, one of the many William had learned through the years of cuddling and comforting. “You’re right, he lied. But he meant well, and he would never lie about something that could put you in danger.”
“I know.” Ryan whispered as he leaned in William’s touch. “I just- I freaked out when I saw my father.”
“Maybe it was some kind of shape-shifting creature or something.” William offered, and Ryan seemed to think about it.
“Why my father?” Ryan bit on his lower lip, unsure. “And how did this dude know how he looked? That kind of stuff needs researching.”
“Well, it’s not like we’ve never been the target of the bad guys.” William showed a little smile and felt relieved when Ryan mirrored it.
“Touché.” Ryan admitted, relaxing a bit. “Maybe we should ask Spencer, if there’s a creature able to change its shape, Spencer will probably know about it.”
“I’ll go talk to him.” William nodded and brought his hands to Ryan’s, lacing their fingers together. “I’ll ask Gabe too, maybe he knows something about it.”
“Just… don’t tell Pete.” Ryan bit on his lower lip again, worried. “Not yet. I want to know what this thing could be, first.”
“Okay.” William pulled Ryan close again, and placed a kiss on Ryan’s jaw. “Promise me you’ll talk to Brendon, don’t cut him out.”
Ryan hesitated and took a deep breath, his hands slowly leaving William’s. “Go talk to Spencer and Gabe.” Ryan whispered, and his fingers moved up to William’s neck. “And tell Bren to come in.” He added as he lowered his head and rested it against William’s collarbone again.
“You know what’s the best thing about being a vampire?” William wrapped his arms around Ryan again, holding him close. “I get to be your big brother forever.”
Ryan smiled against William’s neck. “Love you too, Billiam.”
William closed his eyes for a few seconds, remembering all the nights he spent like this, dragging Ryan out of a bad moment. He silently swore to himself that whoever organized that sick set up with Ryan’s father was going to pay.
“Ry, talk to Brendon.” William whispered eventually, gently pushing Ryan back enough to look at him in the eye.
Ryan nodded and placed a last kiss on William’s cheek. “Thanks.”
“Whenever you need me, skinny.” William whispered back, then waited for Ryan to stand. A few seconds later he reached the door and stopped with the hand on the knob. “It’s gonna be okay.”
Ryan smiled a little at that and took a deep breath, nodding. William opened the door and spotted Brendon sitting on the floor with a worried look on his face. When the younger boy looked up, William smiled and gestured towards the room.
Brendon was on his feet and inside the room a second later, so quickly William had barely the time to register the movement. With a soft chuckle he headed towards the next room, Jon and Spencer’s.
~
“Jon.” Spencer sat down next to the sleeping boy, trying to wake him. “Hey, wake up.” Jon rolled on his side and muttered something in his sleep. “C’mon, Sisky said Ryan brought pizzas.”
Jon opened one eye at that. “You said pizza?”
Spencer rolled his eyes and poked him in the shoulder. “Get up, you lazy ass.”
“What about no?” Jon muttered sleepily, then his hand slowly reached Spencer’s and he pulled the boy down with him. “What about we stay here?”
“I’m hungry.” Spencer didn’t fight back and lied down next to Jon, facing him. “And sex can wait.” He added with a little smirk as Jon circled his waist with an arm.
“No sex right now.” Jon whispered against Spencer’s shoulder, then kissed his way up to his neck, snuggling. “Just this.”
“Someone’s feeling cuddly?” Spencer smiled, but there was no trace of mocking in his voice. His hands found their way to Jon’s back and he pulled the boy even closer.
“I can tell this is gonna be another one of those months where bad guys kick our asses, we kick theirs, and people scream and fight and get mad at each other and stuff.” Jon sighed and rested his chin on Spencer’s chest, looking up at him. “I just wanna make sure we enjoy some peace before that.”
“We’re not gonna get mad at each other, right?” Spencer asked as his fingers moved up to Jon’s head, trailing in his hair.
“No.” Jon smiled and placed a kiss on Spencer’s chin. “Unless you cheat on me with that cranky ghost.”
Spencer laughed at that, truly amused by that idea. “Jon, he’s a ghost.”
“Yeah, well, better safe than sorry.” Jon smirked and shrugged a little, but when he was about to add something, Dylan jumped on the bed and settled on Spencer’s belly, ignoring both of their frowns.
“He still gets along with Hemmy.” Spencer informed, one hand immediately reaching the cat to stroke the soft fur.
“About that, where’s Hemmy?” Jon asked, a little confused. “I haven’t seen him around yet.”
“Patrick says he’s constantly sleeping.” Spencer chuckled moving his gaze back to his boyfriend. “And since the new werewolf is here, he rarely leaves the room.”
“Maybe he has to get used to the new guy. You know, all that territory marking stuff dogs do.” Jon glanced down at the cat and a little smile came back to his lips. “Or maybe he’s just that lazy.”
Spencer laughed again and Jon looked up at him, leaning in enough to connect their lips in a slow kiss. Spencer opened up immediately, but a few seconds later someone knocked on the door.
“I’ll go.” Jon whispered, pulling back slowly. Spencer let his head fall back against the pillow and his hand went back to petting Dylan.
“Hey, Bill.” Jon frowned a little at the serious look on his friend’s face. “Something wrong?”
“I kind of need Spencer’s help.” William smiled a little, leaning against the doorframe. “Can I steal him for a while?”
“Sure.” Jon glanced at the bed and saw that Spencer was already on his feet. “Just return him in good conditions.”
“I will.” William smirked, and Jon walked back to the bed just as Spencer reached the door.
As soon as the door closed, Spencer looked at William and frowned. “I hope this is important, because I was in the middle of a really nice cuddle session.”
“It’s about Ryan.” William bit on his lower lip, any trace of smile gone. “About his father.”
“Shit.” Spencer shook his head, worried. “What about it?”
“He saw him. At the pizzeria.” William informed and Spencer stopped in the middle of the corridor, looking at William like he was crazy.
“Ryan’s father is dead.” Spencer looked halfway angry and confused, and William took a step towards him.
“We think it might be some kind of shape-shifting creature.” William gestured Spencer to follow him. “That’s why we need your help, you’re the best at researching.”
“You told Pete?” Spencer resumed following William, and saw him head for his own room.
“No, Ryan doesn’t want him to know yet.” William sighed and stopped, hand on the doorknob. “I’m allowed to involve you and Gabe, no one else.”
Spencer nodded at that, and bit on his lip, thoughtful. “I’ve heard about shape-shifting before.” He glanced at William and the look in his eyes didn’t reassure the vampire. “But if it’s what I think, we’re in deeper shit than we thought.”
“Way to cheer me up.” William sighed and opened the door, just to find his room empty. “Great, we deal with demongate ’08 and my boyfriend is choking himself on pizza.”
Spencer chuckled at that, and they both headed towards the stairs. They didn’t even have the time to reach the top step before the alarms went off, signaling someone had entered from the main gate.
They quickly walked downstairs and saw Pete reach the door, gun ready. Gabe and Billie Joe joined them a second later, ready to draw their guns if the visitor turned out to be dangerous.
When the doorbell rang, Pete waited a second, then opened it slowly. When he saw who was standing outside, he almost dropped the gun.
“Uh.” Pete cocked an eyebrow, his gaze moving from Greta to a barely standing Butch Walker. “Hi?”
“We need your help.” Greta glanced at Butch, then looked back at Pete, worried.
“We don’t.” Butch tried to get free from Greta’s grip, but the girl just glared. “I’m fine.”
“Sure, and I’m a worldwide famous rockstar.” Pete rolled his eyes, gaining a smirk from Greta. “C’mon, get your wolfie asses inside.”
“Fuck you.” Butch growled, but followed Greta inside anyway.
“Yeah, you’re welcome.” Pete grinned and closed the door, then put his gun away.
“Pete, who’s at the do--” Patrick stopped dead in his tracks, his eyes immediately meeting Butch’s ones. “Butch?”
“Patrick.” Butch’s expression softened a little when he saw the werewolf, but it lasted just a second.
“Here, let me help you.” Patrick muttered as he reached Butch’s side and placed the man’s arm on his shoulders, helping him to stay upright. “What happened?”
“It was a demon.” Butch explained as Patrick walked them towards the library, while Greta reached Pete. “Not a regular one.”
“What was it?” Pete asked, following them.
“A Keebo.” Spencer shook his head and took a few steps towards them, worried.
“Yeah.” Butch turned to look at him, surprised and suspicious. “How d’you know it?”
“You were attacked near Summerset Drive?” Spencer asked with a worried frown. When Butch nodded, Spencer looked at William. “Where Ryan saw him.”
“Where Ryan saw who?” Pete glared at Spencer, stepping right in front of them.
“What the hell is a Keebo?” William shook his head, confused.
“A Keebo is an ancient demon, and it’s bad news for us.” Gabe explained, then reached William quickly. “What’s going on with Ryan?”
“Wait, you mean little Ryan Ross?” Greta suddenly asked, surprised.
“You know Ryan?” Spencer eyed the girl with suspect, frowning a bit.
“I’m--” Greta started to say, but Butch gestured her to shut up.
“Greta?” Ryan asked from the top of the stairs. “Are you-- Is it really you?”
“Well, I’m pretty much myself.” Greta admitted with a smile; a second later Ryan was down the stairs and in front of her, under the group’s confused looks. When Ryan pulled the girl in a tight hug, the only ones who didn’t look surprised were Pete, Patrick and Butch.
“Thank you.” Ryan whispered to the girl, closing his eyes. “I never had the chance to tell you.”
“I’m happy to see you’re okay.” Greta hugged him back, smiling widely. After a couple of seconds her expression changed and she pulled back a little. “Wait, you’re-- you’re a vampire.”
“Uh, yeah, kind of.” Ryan admitted with a little smirk. “It’s a long story.”
“I’m sure it’s interesting too, but can you please delay your sappy reunion moment?” Butch asked as he leaned against Patrick.
Ryan glared at him for a second, then nodded slowly, knowing they had serious trouble going on and they needed to focus on that. “We’ll have all the time to chat.” Greta whispered in his ear, and Ryan smiled.
“Why is there a Keebo in our dimension?” Pete pinched the bridge of his nose, exasperated.
“Someone freed it.” Butch took a deep breath and Patrick resumed walking him towards the library. “Well, him. Apparently, his name is Jeremy.”
“Okay, how do we kill this Keebo?” William asked, looking at Butch first, then at Gabe.
“We don’t.” Gabe replied after a couple of seconds. “Keebos are immortal.”
“And there’s gonna be more around soon.” Butch announced, looking directly at Pete. “We’re on the verge of something nasty.”
“How nasty?” Ryan asked as Brendon joined them.
“End-of-humankind nasty.” Butch looked at him as they entered the library, then got free of Patrick’s grip and limped towards an armchair.
“Told you so.” Pierre arched an eyebrow at them from his seating at the table, looking directly at Gabe. “I think it might be karma.”

A/N: Drama is here. *giggles* And expect a big big explanation scene of doom. LOL
Meanwhile, I just wanna tell you all that the name ‘Keebo’ is a product of my twisted mind. I didn’t want to call them ‘ancient demons’ all the time, so yeah, it’s not really badass but I hope it’s not too lame. LOL
Also, finally Butch and Greta joined us in this ride, and they’re gonna bring more surprises. *grins* Evil!Paramore - well, half of them - arrived too, and Hayley’s way more dangerous than Gerard was, I can tell you that.
Well… let me know what you think about it. :D
See you soon. JM. <3
