Even though I was only going to be in Metropolis for 1 day I still made time to do the Superman 4 miler. Like the Star Wars races, the Superman Road Race T-shirts aren’t something you can just pick up in stores. Did the Outrunning Autism 5K yesterday with the same friends I did the Throo the Zoo with and again we just walked it together. We took a little over an hour and it was a little warm and I should have put on sunscreen but it was worth it. Plus I got to see a new park. I've never been out to the Parklands of Floyd's Fork. Did the annual Throo the Zoo 5K again this year and had a great time even though I didn’t run. A buddy and his family were doing it and they’re not runners so I walked it with them. Did the Star Wars RunDisney Dark Side Challenge this last weekend at Disney World in Orlando and it really was a challenge. The wife and I did the 5K Friday then the 10K on Saturday and I finished up with a half marathon Sunday. I did the Run the Bluegrass Half Marathon again yesterday. I always complain about how tough this race is but I keep going back. It is really pretty countryside and the finisher medals are pretty dope. This year it was cloudy/overcast and 45 degrees (but it felt colder on the back half of the race). I was in Lexington this weekend for the annual Comic Con and again it fell on the same weekend as the Irish/St Patty's Day festival and again I did the "Shamrock Shuffle 3K". Did the YMCA's annual Thanksgiving day run this morning. This year I went for the 10K again even though I hadn't trained enough for it. The excess heat this Summer meant all my usual runs were a lot shorter. I still did okay. Very few walk breaks and I finished unofficially in 1:02. I feel like I ran my heart out for this one, had the tunes cranked and was passing people early and had very few pass me in the stretch but I still only finished in 29:01. Not totally bad but I felt like I was working hard and should have had a better time. The 90 degree heat probably had a lot to do with it. Seems the temperature for this race ( Read more... )

The forecast was for heavy rain I ended up doing this one. The skies were grey but it didn't sprinkle until long after we were done. But with all that moisture hanging in the air I was still soaked (with sweat) by the end of the race. It would have been better if it would have rained I think. Did an evening "glow run" organized by Hosparus last evening despite the 92 degree race time temp. It's to support a great cause and this year's theme was superheroes so even one of my superhero crazy buddies that doesn't really run came out. He wore a Flash shirt and I wore a Reverse Flash shirt.
