Did the run last night. Pretty mediocre time of 39 minutes. Better than I was expecting though. Very crowded/busy. Got there at 5:30 and the parking lot was already 3/4 full. Did the run and went straight home. Didn't hang around for the poker or anything. Looks like it was 256 runners with 224 toys and $2130 in donations for Toys for Tots.

Did the Autism 5K this morning and didn't have my usual Star Wars buddies with me so I did this one solo. It was pretty warm so I had to walk a lot but I still finished in about 35 minutes. I guess it's a good thing I won't be able to make the Metropolis 4 miler this year since I'm really not in shape for it. One bad thing about this morning's run ( Read more... )

Did the Throo the Zoo 5K today with a couple of buddies and just took it easy. None of them are runners and one I only see a couple of times a year so I was happy just to walk with them and chat and catch up. Did the Run the Bluegrass yesterday but unlike in past years when I ran the full half marathon, this year I only did their 7 miler. I knew I wouldn't be in shape for a half marathon but I needed to do something to get in better shape and the 7 miler gave me a goal to work towards. Did the Toys for Tots Poker Run 5K last night. Good weather but I took it pretty easy. Walked the uphills and jogged the downhills. Finished in 37:35. I had a lot to do so I didn’t hang around for snacks or door prizes afterwards.

Did the usual 4 mile road race while I was in Metropolis for the annual Superman Celebration. Was even more horribly hot than usual and I wilted after the first 2 miles. Clear and a cold 30 degrees for the 47th (wow!) YMCA Turkey Trot this year. I did the 10K and I did okay. My first 5K was good but after that I had to walk quite a bit and finished in 1:06:17. No runs coming up this winter so that probably does it for a while.

Did the Great Pumpkin 10K for the first time yesterday. While the weather was cool and crisp on race day, the weeks leading up were pretty hot so I wasn't able to get in as much training as I would have liked. Did the Kicking Butt 5K benefiting Colon Cancer Prevention yesterday and it was a pretty good time. I did it as part of a team from work so I also got some "team player" credit for being there. Did the annual Iroquois Park Toys for Tots Poker Run 5K last night. The running club charges an admission of a new toy for Toys for Tots and puts on a great event. You can tell a lot of volunteer work goes into this. The weather was clear and cooler than it’s been recently so it was a great turnout. I finished in 34:02 which was better than I ( Read more... )
