Saw another apartment in Astoria that turned out to be way smaller than desirable. No living room at all, really. Hoping stuff opens up at the beginning of the month.

Saw a couple unimpressive apartments in Astoria, but the general feel of the neighborhood along a couple streets seemed good and full of things.

Akiva was in town unexpectedly, hung out with him for a bit, had dinner with him and K at the french place across the street.

Took a look at an apartment a little farther up in Park Slope. Seemed decent but feels hard to pull the trigger on the first thing we've seen this go-round.

Long but good day at work. Dinner over at Papa Kebab with K. Upstairs has been really, really extra awful lately, waking us up at 5 or 6am and keeping us from going to sleep until about 11:30pm. Really hate it.

Talked to the landlord and it seemed briefly that it might be possible to take the third floor apartment in our building instead of the second; we had eyed 3fl initially, (pros: no exposed brick, less ceiling tromping noise because top floor) but someone else had rented it --- then decided that they wanted to move down to the duplex on 1fl/basement ( Read more... )

Went down to the Red Hook ikea on a recon mission, not yet buying stuff for The Move but thinking about what we'll want.

Also wandered around the waterfront area since we'd never really seen it before. There were some weird furniture stores and art galleries and wacky multi-level crab restaurants.

Looked at a few more apartments, and a couple in Boerum Hill seemed pretty good actually.

Played Agricola with Sean, Arielle, and K. I wound up winning with an intensive boar-breeding strategy. Interesting game; I think I'd played a 2-player match with rdore long ago back when I lived in philly, but I didn't remember much of the rules or strategy.

Dinner at Bar Tabac, did some further apartment hunting online, watched some Fringe.

More playing with tiddlywiki, saw an apartment that felt like a definite "maybe" (except one of the rooms reeked of cigarette smoke... although, no carpet, so maybe it'd air out ok?) had some quesadillas in park slope, watched some fringe.
