Had a good bunch of discussions with Sean and Alyssa at work. Supposed to be stupid hot this weekend when we were planning to do the final cleanup of old apartment.

Started moving some stuff into the new place in Astoria! Basically just books, but pretty much all our books made it there. Made a Zipcar reservation of a big van for three hours, thinking that was probably a bit overboard, but had it back in the spot at three hours on the dot. Got lease signed! Movin' to Astoria imminently, I guess. Restaurant situation seems incredibly good over there.

Looks like the landlord of the apartment we liked saturday is happy with us and ready to sign a lease tomorrow.

Got several apartments (4!) lined up for tomorrow. All in Astoria (my concession --- I do like and know brooklyn well, but it's still pricey for what we're looking for, and there's just so many babies) and all without laundry (mostly K's concession. I like laundry in building, but it seemed to really limit our choices).

Ooooh so close. Saw an Astoria apartment that tickied most of the tickyboxes, but it did have a very cramped kitchen and no dishwasher and was just on the fringes of how far I wanted to walk to the subway. Saw a pretty affordable seeming apartment in South Slope. Cons: pretty far to the subway, building a little on the dirty side, according to current tenant there are small children directly downstairs and known to play right outside the window saturday mornings, and we're kind of weirded out that the elevator opens up directly into the apartment.

There was a listing for an apartment on Henry and about 2nd place in Caroll Gardens that I was really excited about; laundry in building, not first floor, plenty of space, price not completely crazy-town... what was the catch? Feeling a little discouraged about apartment hunt again lately. Feel like every place we look at is so close except for one or two dealbreakers.
