Not training for a marathone has re-opened many doors this year. Training and training prep precluded many activities, from nights out on the town to playing basketball. It took 12 years, but I booked a ticket and am now in India. It has been a terrific trip so far, with stops in Kolkata, Mumbai, Goa and Delhi. I was even deigned the 'brother' in an Indian wedding, allowing me to participate and yank an ear ( Read more... )

You know you are having a long day when you get stuck in a bottleneck at a bridge at 2 a.m. just to sit there for 1.5 hours while they detonate the final vestiges of the old Wilson Bridge to make room for the final section of the new span. The move went well, despite 2/3 of the help being injured or sick. The place is great, even though the living room dimensions are a bit awkward. I'm enjoying the shorter commute. First, I signed a lease on a new apartment, reducing my commute distance by 75%. SV was thrilled at the prospect of our first 'official' place. So much so that her antennae were distracted, allowing me to propose without her expecting it.

So, it only took, 5 years and 9 months. Why the hurry?

Now it's time to crawl into bed with my finisher's medal. We are inseparable until I can walk normal again.

Aside from a 1-2 mile jog, the training is complete. I'm nervous as I can be and doubting what I can do, but am looking forward to the challenge.
