life passing by

Ignore LJ for awhile and you really miss out on what is going on with others' lives - which was the purpose of being here. So I should try to be a more regular poster and reader, I suppose.

Naturally, I decide this an hour before a softball game. It's the thought that counts, right?

My last entry was posted from Calcutta. I was in the midst of losing 10 pounds the international way - by not keeping food down. While the trip deserve more than a cursory glance, I can just say that I had a surreal trip - the culmination of over 12 years of relationships and cultural teases from some really great people. From Anant meeting me at 1 a.m. at the Chennai airport just to greet me as I switched terminals en route to Calcutta, to spending New Year's eve with Aradhna and 100 of her closest friends, on the Hugli, to having an official role in Mumbai at Nikita's wedding, to a last minute 2-day trek to Goa with my best friend Anant, back to Mumbai to spend time with Sohil's parents, finally to Delhi with Nitin & Disha, Nitin's family and capping the trip with Ruchi at her house, it was even more tremendous and memorable than my wildest dreams. I can't wait to go back for another 3 weeks - this time with SV.

Whew...we've been really busy of late. Nitin and Disha visited for my bday, SV and I spent a few days in the Bahamas (thanks for augustdawn for great advice), then hit a crazy few weeks where we were in NJ visiting Nitin and Disha over one weekend, then back to the area to celebrate Anant's CFA exam in NYC and Sohil's wedding reception in CT. We returned home at 6:30 a.m. on a Monday, 7 hours before my flight to Chicago for work. There, I saw Dhruv and Enakshi after my conference, a mere 4 days before they moved to London. I've also joined SV's work softball team, pulled my hamstring in the first game, then hit my head on a fence a few weeks later. A colleague gave me a set of golf clubs so I can see if I have the patience for the game. I have my reservations, but will give it a shot. Speaking of shot, I've resumed my first sports passion by playing basketball semi-regularly.

I have a wedding to plan, a group destination trip to Dewey Beach to coordinate, and it's only mid-June. Amazing what you can do when not training for a marathon for the first time in 4 years and without choaking debt.

Okay, that was a lot in a short span. Perhaps I should post more frequently and not so spasmodically. I love working from home. :)

Time to get a replacement glove for our game tonight.
