It had been a fairly successful day. Isabel had landed a position as a TA or "staffer" in political campaigning and helped Cam with the paint job on the swoop bike. But she wasn't in the mood for the common rooms tonight, even if she would have liked to have seen a repeat performance of last night's Gremlin TheaterSitting on her bed with her

Taking a break from doing nothing, Aeryn heads upstairs, knocking on the doorframe.

"Which part, being silly or the nail polish?" Aeryn asks, because some things need clarification.

"Both," she chuckled, demonstrating by adding a second layer of polish to her left thumb. "See? No pain or blood involved."

Aeryn smiles. "You're still not getting me to do it," she tells her.

"I'm going to keep trying," Isabel smiled. "Maybe for Homecoming? Or for a very special occasion that should be coming up if my deductions are correct."

"Possibly," says Aeryn, only because she figures either Isabel or Rory will manage it somehow and they might be easier on her this way. "As long as I have the stuff to take it off."

She pulled another bottle out of her basket. "It's right here. So you're safe."

"I'm very glad to know you're prepared," she says. And she can't believe she's having this conversation. She thinks that a lot.

"I was a boy scout in a previous life," Isabel replied. "So I'm always prepared."

Aeryn pauses. "I honestly don't know which part of that statement to question first..."

"I'm sorry," she said. "I forget sometimes that you won't get all the stupid little references." Isabel capped the polish and sat back. "The first part is simple. The Boy Scouts are an organization for boys that teaches leadership and civics. Their motto is 'Be prepared'. The other part is a little more strange. Are you ready for it?"

"Well, the first part makes a sort of sense," she says. "I'm ready."

"Okay, hopefully this won't break your brain too badly," Isabel said seriously. "There are certain religions on earth that believe when you die, your soul is born again and you live another, different life. They also believe that you can occasionally remember what happened in your past lives. So I was making a small joke when I said I was a boy scout in a past life. I mean, I obviously wasn't." She ignored the little voice that pointed out she'd been a traitorous bitch. "Does that make sense? Even in an odd sort of way?"

Aeryn's brain hasn't exactly broken, but it's straining a little. "Not at all really, no," she says, shaking her head. "I don't think it's one of those things I'll really understand, though."

"Trust me, the whole religion thing? I don't understand it either." Isabel rolled her eyes, "Although it's occasionally entertaining to watch some nutjob try to claim she was Marie Antoinette in a past life. Everyone is always someone famous. They're never just the maid, or a random peasant." Feeling bad, Isabel stopped before she wound up having to explain karma and past lives as a bug. "So what else has been happening?"

Aeryn's a little glad for the subject change. "Classes, mostly. Meeting the new kids," she says, and shrugs a little. "And I'm sure you've heard by now."
