Well, I have officially finished with everything here, now it's just a waiting game until they take us to customs and lock us down for a few hours before flying out. So today I turned in all of the oodles of gear (some useful, most not so much) that the Army issued me all those moons ago and let me tell you it feels great. It's quite an odd feeling not packing heat after doing so for so long. Having that nine mil with me was so ubiquitous that being without it is quite odd. Well everyone, I have landed in Kuwait where I will be for the next few days. There's not much to do here which is kind of the point. We're just supposed to hang out and decompress which I have mixed feelings about. Oh well, I'll be home soon. I know it's been a while, sorry about that. I'm getting close to the end here which I find quite exciting. My relief gets here in a week and I leave in the middle of November. Yes, there is in fact rain in the desert ladies and gentlemen. In fact it poured for a good twenty minutes yesterday. And yes, I was dorky enough to have a friend take my picture in the rain in Iraq. Remember a few months ago when I said sandstorms suck? Well, they still do. It gets everywhere, especially in my eye. Up until now I did not really understand why service members aren't allowed to wear contacts out here. If I had contacts in right now, I think my eyes would have fallen out.
