[For once, the video feed coming from Elijah's PORTAL appears to be wholly intentional.] Right. Uh. [He glances away from the camera for a moment, rubbing the back of his neck; he's clearly still not used to addressing others with this thing.] I'm sure some of y'all already know this, but back where I'm from, we got these critters called fey- ( Read more... )

[Because fuck if he's going to answer questions about his teeth if it comes up, so might as well keep it to voice.]

Can't say I know much, but. We're got fairies. Really tiny, bloody stupid.

[That makes him snort.] Sounds like every fairy I ever seen.

Things get themselves killed if there's only a few of 'em. 'Course, sometimes they play pranks and people end up dyin', but ya can just squish them like insects.

That's good to know. [Especially considering the fairies he's used to dealing with tend to be far more difficult to deal with.] Anything more dangerous than that?

Of course things like that can be brought here. Even if they don't exist in people's worlds, they'll likely have stories or similar. Enough to create nightmares.

S'what I figured. [He sighs.] Ain't no harm in bein' prepared in case that ever happens, though.

That's true. Though with the things the human imagination can come up with, I'm not sure we could ever be entirely prepared.

Maybe not, but some preparation's always better'n none.

There's a whole bunch in my world Far too long to list them individually.

Anything worth keepin' an eye out for?

They're all dangerous in one way or another. The Weapons are pretty much the most powerful. But if they're here, you'll definitely know. They're half as big as the city itself.

[That doesn't sound like it bodes well.] I guess somethin' that powerful would be a little beyond the scope-a what kinda operation I'm thinkin' of here.

[Dragon girl gives you a curious look, Elijah!]

I know that there was a lot of other kinds of creatures hundreds of years ago, in my world. Most of them died out, though. It's still rumored that we have Coronaé, Suruth, and Morvik'nen. They're all different, and very hard to find.

If you want, I can explain them, Elijah.

[Oh, hello again. He smiles warmly at her.] I'd sure appreciate that, Mysari.

[She nods and smiles back, flicking one hand up and forming water to mold it into a form.

The water swirls, and shows the form of what looks like a phoenix with a peacock tail, and a magnificent fur coat. Perched on top of its head are what look like antlers wrapped in vines.]

This is a Coronaé. They're legendary birds who could adapt to any environment they lived in, and were fierce protectors of their territory. Their body was able to change to blend in with whatever place they came across, and they were full of magic. It was said that when they fought, even dragons ran in fear. Their anger was something you didn't mess with. But they disappeared a long time ago, however humans have reported seeing them every now and then. It's not for very long though.

[The figure shifts, turning into what looks like a fish with spikes coming out of its back and blades for flippers.]Suruth are creatures that live underwater, so we don't see them a lot. Apparently they were one of the first inhabitants of my world, but they choose to remain away ( ... )

[Elijah watches carefully, absorbing the information and occasionally taking notes.]

Right... You sure there ain't nothin' else worth watchin' out for from your world?

There are all manners of creatures of folklore from my world, though the only ones I can confirm the existence of are various necromantic creations - ghosts and ghouls, for example. The only kinds that are dangerous are those that are created by necromancy, and frankly, I would worry far more about the wizard that created them if they were to appear in Promenade

If this is really a dream world, they might not need someone creating them to show up here.

True enough.

I suppose ghouls would be the most general cause of concern. They are tremendously fast but also extremely unintelligent. Their bite is likely to kill you from disease if you manage not to get eaten entirely. They are also difficult to kill.

Fantômes are the spirits of dead wizards. They are malevolent entities, but they would generally only be a threat to other wizards. They possess others and use their power to terrifying effect. Considering the different types of magic in this world, I am not sure how much of a threat a fantôme would be.
