The Pens won Tuesday night to cut Detroit's lead to 2-1 in the series. They finally got some bounces and calls their way. The Pens were able to captialize on two of their power plays including Gonchar's winning goal. I'm encouraged by the win, but the battle has only just begun ( Read more... )

I haven't posted really anything about it but the Pens lost both games over the weekend. It kind of mirrors last years final series thus far but I still have hope that it can be different. The Penguins made it back to the Stanley Cup Finals and so did the Detroit Red Wings. The series starts tonight in Detroit. I really feel like the Pens are playing really well right now. So last night the Penguins won Game 4 against the Hurricanes and advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals for the 2nd consecutive year. They will play either the Red Wings or the Blackhawks. The Penguins played the first game of the Conference finals against Carolina last night. They won 3-2 in a hard fought contest. I thought the Pens played well enough to win. They had their chances on Ward and were able to get the puck past him 3 times. I wish they would have capitalized on some of the other chances that they had and put the game ( Read more... )

4/27/09 - Since I last posted a lot has happened in the NHL playoffs. First and foremost the Pens closed out their series against the Flyers on Saturday with a huge game 6 comeback. 4/22/09 - Marc-Andre Fleury may have very well won the opening round series against the Flyers with his performance last night. The Pens won 3-1 and take a 3-1 series lead back to Pittsburgh tomorrow night. In a hotly contested battle that seemed to go back and forth the Pens struck with 2 second period goals against Philly.
