The cheap seats (or, I went to this concert and all I got was this T-shirt)

All right! I'm only a week late with this! The Hoffman Estates concert is typically a highlight. It is rare to come across a band of this caliber in a grade school. In fact, I am certain that there are a lot of high school bands that couldn't compete with their senior band. Most grade school bands, mine included, couldn't really compete with ( Read more... )

I have no idea what was up with the Mansons, unless it was a stepparent/grandparent situation. Still creepy, especially with the infamous Manson family in the news this past week. (The authorities were digging up land they had in Death Valley, if you didn't know. Fitting, right?)

I think it's because you played contrabass that I knew who you were when you were still a camper--you played the biggest woodwind ever seen at camp. Did you have to sit on two stacked chairs? I know a few people have over the years, and you were tall enough regardless.

Oh, yeah, I totally thought about you at the concert. But I bet you're glad you didn't have to sit through flute-o-phones. ;)

Look, buddy...that line is only for people who've actually been to band camp. Because, obviously, we get the best stories.

Okay, what is your best story that would start with that line? I'm always up for a good story.

This one time, at band camp, my roommate pulled her underwear out of her pocket one morning...

Yes, that is true. But no, you will not hear the end of it. I have to protect the guilty, you know.
