We got home yesterday evening after a time in Nelson that still managed to be pleasant despite Ferdi having croup and Dad having a cold and some torrential rain keeping us cooped up. Boadecia went back to the vet on Sunday to get her mouth looked at. It's still red but healing OK. When she's finished her antibiotics we have some stuff to rub into her gums - it's caramel flavoured which is supposed to make her feel OK about us jabbing our fingers into her sore mouth but I have to admit to being the teensiest bit skeptical really ( Read more... )

I think Ferdi must be getting molars or something because he's waking up at odd times in the night and being all miserable and hard to settle. Miserable is not really his style so I'm assuming there's pain.

Crispin forgot and opened the back door this morning and, of course, Hermes dashed straight out and over the back fence. Dad's biopsy came back clear so he gets to start maintenance therapy on Friday. And we get a couple of months of not having to fret about his bladder. We'll call them tonight and, I suspect, celebratory drinks will be had in both houses tonight.

What do Crispin and Hermes have in common? They both have ear infections. I'm spending a fair proportion of time squirting medicine into orifices. Hermes went to the vet yesterday for follow-up on his former hairlessness and came home still on the prednisone that I hoped to be weaning him off and now also on antibiotics and ear drops as well.
