▪ Wegner's Disease: A rare and deadly form of vasculitis. It is distinguished from other forms of vasulitis by the presence of granulomas, which are not present in any other form of vasculitis. Wegener's is extremely difficult to diagnose as its symptoms in the initial phase are not distinguishable from the symptoms of many other diseases. These include symptoms such as aches, slight difficulty breathing, and gastro-intestinal upset. It is generally only diagnosed after treatment is ineffective for anything else it could be.
▪ Wilson's Disease: A rare genetic disorder caused by the inability of the body to properly dispose of copper from the bloodstream. In normal people, the liver filters excess copper from the body and disposes of it in bile into the digestive tract. However, in patients with Wilson's, excess copper accumulates in the body's organs, particularly the liver, eventually poisoning them.
▪ Withdrawal: The response of the body to the discontinuance of an addictive substance. The symptoms can range from mild to severe and in extreme cases can be life threatening. With all addictive substances, the body tolerates higher and higher doses and the therapeutic effect of the drug is lessened. However, the body's functions adjust themselves to the addition of the drug so that the addicted person may function more or less normally. However, once the addict ceases to use the drug, the body reacts adversely until it can once again adjust to the new situation
