"... thee're his sister, then?"

Sheila Glamorgan also had the unfortunate occurence of being flung into her lover's past. Unfortunately for Sheila, she has no idea about the place. She's never seen or even heard of it, and it was pure luck that she met someone coming by to his apartment that wasn't his girlfriend, LindaFurthermore, someone who ( Read more... )

Something in Sheila might twist, a little, as something very large and very intent fixes on her.

Moments later, the air maybe ten paces away begins to stir, as if in the middle of a heat haze.

Seconds later, a tall skinny man in a black coat and dusty jeans strides through. Behind him, one can see a lake, and the faintest suggestion of a forest.

His hair is slightly damp, as if he has been sweating, and his hand shakes, a little.

"You called, I think. It was hard to hear."

"Holy Christ on a Cracker," yelps Shelley, leaping up.

"Who -- what -- how -- oh shit what is going on--"

Sheila just laughs.

"Raven, this is Shelley."

Raven laughs, too, coming to stand near Sheila.

"It is good to see you well, I think."

He blinks, then turns, tilting his head to study Shelley.

"You are related to Ash, perhaps. It is interesting."

"Well yet lost, hopelessly, if not for Shelley I'd no inkling of where --"

This happens far, far too much to Sheila, and she curls her arms around Raven's neck, clinging a moment.

"Thee did hear me, it is good. I never dreamed."

Shelley, dazed, just nods. Slowly.

SOMERSET MALL
Troy, Michigan
[The Best Shopping in Oakland County]

The sign outside the mall, once Shelley leads Raven and Sheila out of the car (it was a short ride, and likely very silent) is very straightforward.

It's in Troy, Michigan, which is the place where you get the best shopping in Oakland County.

Sheila, who cannot read the sign, is squinting at it.

"Never mind what it says," Shelley grins. "'S get some clothes, or food, or something. There's a Mrs Fields nearby, if you guys like fresh cookies?"

Raven fairly glows.

"I like cookies."

"Who is Mrs --"

"I had a feeling you'd ask that," Shelley interrupts Sheila. "She's nobody. Not a real person. 'S the name of the store, kinda like, I dunno, Hudson's, or S-Mart. C'mon."

Three minutes or so later, they have fresh-baked cookies.

Sheila's grinning, because Raven likes cookies, and she dragged him here, after all.

For several moments, Raven is rather content to be eating cookies. Inhaling is probably closer to the mark.

After he has devoured several, maybe half-a-dozen, the shaking in his hands stops. It's a good thing.

"I am content. Is there aught else to do here? Not everyone enjoys cookies, you see."
