[ Startled awake with a dying scream on his lips, Haldir gasps for air as he accidentally knocked the communicator to the floor. He's awake but the frigid whispers of Mandos are still quite loud in my mind. ]

In the name of the stars, where am I?!

[ Still desperately trying to breathe, the panic in his tone lowers somewhat. Haldir realizes that ( Read more... )

[ Had Alucard been a dhampir it's more than likely that the sight of his unblinking, ghostly white visage might have been quite unsettling to the newcomer but as a human man he wasn't quite as alarming. Although still retaining an almost eerie preternatural beauty there was a very mortal look to his features; he had the rosy cheeks of and the bright, blue eyes of a young man retaining some of his paleness (but not a deathly pale) and flaxen hair.

He spoke, voice soft and perhaps a little slower than most, accented with a tinge of his Romania ancestry. ]

Ah, you must be new, I do not recognise your face.

As trivial as it may be to hear this, do not fret, you are not dead. Far from it, in fact.

[ Once an image of another appeared upon the screen, Haldir hastily dropped the communicator as if it burned him. It fell to the floor with a nasty tumble, mostly likely chipped thanks to the fall. ]

An image appearing within stone?

[ A look of mild fright settled in Haldir's blue gaze as he leaned forward to grasp the stone again.]

...Is this some kind of sorcery?

[ Alucard's view of the newcomer had suddenly been replaced with a nice image of the room's ceiling. ]

Hm, [ He chimed ] possibly, [ He began, speaking to a blank image until the blonde's face came into view again. ] but doubtful, we were all issued with these contraptions on arrival, do not fret. They cause no harm or witchcraft as far as I can tell at least.

[ Reclaiming his nerve once more, a hesitant hand reaches forth to snatch the device off the floor. Now staring into the screen again, Haldir replies at last. ]

Then what is this?

[ He's mentioning the contraption they're using. ]

Witchcraft isn't uncommon in the lands of my ancestors but I fear I'm no longer walking upon familiar soil.

[It's the scratches and the blood Harry can see that worry him. He's guessing by the way the man (probably, but there is that hair...) is looking at the phone that he's never seen one before and Harry knows he's not the best person to ask about that.]

Are you all right? Do you need any medical help?

[ After being startled half to death by the appearance of a face on this strange stone, Haldir's stubborn pride kicks in when the other asks if he needs aid. ]

I'm quite--[ A sharp tinge of pain shot through him but he forces himself to ignore it. ]--fine.

These wounds are nothing more than mere scratches.

[ Such a lie that is. ]

Are you sure?

[Harry's not entirely convinced, but if the man decides he doesn't want any help, then there's nothing he can do]

[ While his stubborn pride dictates him to answer "No", Haldir realizes quickly that the horrible ache he feels isn't leaving anytime soon. So, he decides to bite his lip and reluctantly ask for help. ]

...I suppose that maybe I could use some assistance. Not much, just...a little.

[ A long sigh is heard. ]

Who are you? A healer of some kind?

Hello. I believe I know how you feel. I ought to be dead as well.

[ When another speaks with him on this strange device, Haldir couldn't help but wonder just how many people were trapped inside this seemingly magical stone. ]

So you've escaped the Halls of Mandos only to be sealed away within a stone?

[It's not the first time that Mohinder has dealt with other cultures. He's made friends with clones and vampires and a fairy after all.]

I suppose that's not exactly.. No. I did die however. And I did wake up here. Again.

[ Then he'll do just fine befriending this proud Elf. ]

You've awoken here before? When and why?

It is called technology. [Looks who is above the curve all of a sudden.] There are other such wonders here on Midgard as well. [Thor looks... tired, yes. Off his normal game. But he still has a bright smile for the man.

He has seen that look in the mirror before.

Well, perhaps one slightly less fearful. He is the son of Odin.]

[ Nevertheless, Haldir is grateful for the somewhat lacking explanation that actually explained nothing...

...

Well at least Thor tried, right? The marchwarden will have to inquire more about this strange piece of "technology" in a little bit. Right now he's more focused in learning more about the world he finds himself stranded upon. ]

Midgard? Is that the name of this realm?

asgardhero July 9 2012, 00:33:07 UTC
Aye. Or--

[Well.] Truly, it may not be. We do not know. But it certainly appears to be part of the realm of Midgard. The histories say that it once was, before the fog closed in around it. Where are you from, traveler?

The fog?

[ He blinks his eyes in confusion but decides not to inquire about the fog just yet. ]

I hail from the realm of Endóre, friend. Though many know of it simply as "Middle-earth" in the lands of Arda.
