[ Startled awake with a dying scream on his lips, Haldir gasps for air as he accidentally knocked the communicator to the floor. He's awake but the frigid whispers of Mandos are still quite loud in my mind. ]

In the name of the stars, where am I?!

[ Still desperately trying to breathe, the panic in his tone lowers somewhat. Haldir realizes that ( Read more... )

[It's the scratches and the blood Harry can see that worry him. He's guessing by the way the man (probably, but there is that hair...) is looking at the phone that he's never seen one before and Harry knows he's not the best person to ask about that.]

Are you all right? Do you need any medical help?

[ After being startled half to death by the appearance of a face on this strange stone, Haldir's stubborn pride kicks in when the other asks if he needs aid. ]

I'm quite--[ A sharp tinge of pain shot through him but he forces himself to ignore it. ]--fine.

These wounds are nothing more than mere scratches.

[ Such a lie that is. ]

Are you sure?

[Harry's not entirely convinced, but if the man decides he doesn't want any help, then there's nothing he can do]

[ While his stubborn pride dictates him to answer "No", Haldir realizes quickly that the horrible ache he feels isn't leaving anytime soon. So, he decides to bite his lip and reluctantly ask for help. ]

...I suppose that maybe I could use some assistance. Not much, just...a little.

[ A long sigh is heard. ]

Who are you? A healer of some kind?

I am. I'm Harry. Do you know where you are? If you can get to the door of your room there'll be a number on it.

The a number on the door? Ah, yes. I remember there being such a number there, it was..."D2" if I remember correctly.

I know where that is, I'll be there soon.

[Harry actually takes a little while to pick up a first aid kit from the medical centre, but it's still only a few minutes before he knocks on the door of D2]

[ Almost not noticing the healer's departure or arrival, the marchwarden finds himself lost within his thoughts. Just how many Elves died in that brutal war? Under his command he led some of the finest archers to grace Middle-earth, each one taught to wield a bow and arrow since youth. Many of these fine archers were his companions, friends and subordinates he trained since the beginning of time itself. These brave men were his elite soldiers, those brave few were the Guardians of Lothlorien. Under his command, Haldir lead them through great peril and victory countless of times only now to remember their last waking moments being butchered by the Uruk-Hai.

While the horde of beasts where no match for their skill and grace, the Uruk-Hai breached Helm's Deep and claimed its murky halls for their own. Like his kin, Haldir died beside them as both their leader and eternal friend. ]

Harry opened the door and looked over at Haldir. It was easier to assess him in person. "Where does it hurt?" he asked, putting the first aid kit down on the desk.

Haldir gave the healer a quick glance, his tired eyes giving away to the agony he refuses to speak upon. "You came much haste..." He muttered as he tried to force himself to stand. Crumbled upon a floor with a few droplets of blood to accompany him, Haldir hissed painfully as he moved. He's been hunched on the floor for awhile now, trying his best to staunch the bleeding upon his black with very little avail. While his cloak might be as dark as crimson, the blood that gathered there was even darker in hue.

"Here." Haldir whispered softly. "The blow was quite viscous, so I certainly hope you can stomach the sight." He said as he moved to remove his cloak. Letting it fall from his shoulders, the warden sighed deeply. "S-Surely it's a diagonal cut cleaved by the jagged edge of mighty blade."

"I've seen worse," Harry said lightly, partly because he had and partly to make the patient feel better. He opened the first aid kit and set to wiping up the blood so he could see how bad the cut was for himself. As he did so he saw the man's ears and wondered if he was a mutated human or not human at all.

"That is a jagged edge," he said, as the extent of the injury became clear. "It's going to need stitching." But in the meantime he patched it up with bandages and sellotape to hold them in place to stop it bleeding more. "Can you walk? The medical centre will have something to numb the area."

While he's no mutant or half-human at all, Haldir couldn't help but feel strangely mortal now. The terrible lacerations on his back throbbed with an ache unbeknown to him. It set forth waves of painful tremors to rip through his wounded form, causing him great grief as Harry attempted to clean it. Barely even conscious at this point once the bandages were wrapped, Haldir swallowed thickly at the doctor's question. "It..." He began hesitantly., "It would be a shame beyond shame if one of Lorien's Guardians couldn't bear such pain." Knowing that he could no longer linger in this room, Haldir did his best to rise from the floor. With Harry's aid he would surely make it towards the medical center but only if the doctor could offer a shoulder for him to lean upon. As proud as Haldir might be, he knew he could not walk on his own.

So he was that sort of patient. It was, admittedly, the sort of patient Harry was too. He picked the first aid kit up as he watched Haldir stand. it was clear that he wasn't doing very well and Harry quickly lent him an arm to help him up.

"Who stabbed you in the back?" he asked, as he led the other man to the medical centre, hoping to try and take his mind off the pain.

More than grateful for Harry's help than the doctor could ever know, Haldir reluctantly accepts his aid and stands. He grasped his arm tightly, the pain that trembles through his body was too great for him to hide. The cold mask he wore earlier becomes marred with agony now. "T-T'was the blade of a Uruk-Hai that tore through my flesh and tore me asunder." He replied with a shaky breath. "Their might were too great for us, many of my kind perished that night but not before we pelted them with our arrows." A pained hiss interrupted his story and Haldir's grip tightened around Harry's arm.

"Forgive me for such weakness but how far must we go?"

He didn't know what an Uruk-Hai was, but their swords were vicious. He wondered what sort of place Haldir came from that they fought with swords and arrows. "It's just this building over there," Harry nodded at it. "If you can't make it we can wait here and I'll call for help. There's no shame in knowing when you're beaten," he added, hoping that would help him make a decision.

His pride lamented once Haldir confessed that he could not. By this point, every step he took brought him lingering agony and the Elf couldn't stand it anymore. While he typically has a high tolerance for pain, the agony he feels now was just too great for him to bear. His brow was dotted with perspiration and his hands quivered in Harry's strong grasp. Such a shameful display this is for him. Haldir nearly felt compelled to curse the Valar for bestowing such a humbling ordeal upon him. Why must it be him to suffer such indignity now after countless years of service and valor? This is a question that Haldir wished could be answered.

"V-Very well." He replied to the gentle doctor. "I'll wait here while you search for help."
