[ Startled awake with a dying scream on his lips, Haldir gasps for air as he accidentally knocked the communicator to the floor. He's awake but the frigid whispers of Mandos are still quite loud in my mind. ]

In the name of the stars, where am I?!

[ Still desperately trying to breathe, the panic in his tone lowers somewhat. Haldir realizes that ( Read more... )

[ Had Alucard been a dhampir it's more than likely that the sight of his unblinking, ghostly white visage might have been quite unsettling to the newcomer but as a human man he wasn't quite as alarming. Although still retaining an almost eerie preternatural beauty there was a very mortal look to his features; he had the rosy cheeks of and the bright, blue eyes of a young man retaining some of his paleness (but not a deathly pale) and flaxen hair.

He spoke, voice soft and perhaps a little slower than most, accented with a tinge of his Romania ancestry. ]

Ah, you must be new, I do not recognise your face.

As trivial as it may be to hear this, do not fret, you are not dead. Far from it, in fact.

[ Once an image of another appeared upon the screen, Haldir hastily dropped the communicator as if it burned him. It fell to the floor with a nasty tumble, mostly likely chipped thanks to the fall. ]

An image appearing within stone?

[ A look of mild fright settled in Haldir's blue gaze as he leaned forward to grasp the stone again.]

...Is this some kind of sorcery?

[ Alucard's view of the newcomer had suddenly been replaced with a nice image of the room's ceiling. ]

Hm, [ He chimed ] possibly, [ He began, speaking to a blank image until the blonde's face came into view again. ] but doubtful, we were all issued with these contraptions on arrival, do not fret. They cause no harm or witchcraft as far as I can tell at least.

[ Reclaiming his nerve once more, a hesitant hand reaches forth to snatch the device off the floor. Now staring into the screen again, Haldir replies at last. ]

Then what is this?

[ He's mentioning the contraption they're using. ]

Witchcraft isn't uncommon in the lands of my ancestors but I fear I'm no longer walking upon familiar soil.

Astute indeed, it took me some time to realise I was not in my homeland.

[ A pause ]

As for the true nature of this device? I cannot tell you, I know not. It is a method used to communicate with the others here, but its true purpose I do not know. I believe it may have some darker agenda but I have no proof. For now it is naught but a crystal ball to speak to people with.

A darker agenda...?

[ He repeats the others words with some trouble since he honestly doesn't understand what is transpiring here. ]

Is it safe to assume you to be a "friend" instead of a "foe", hodoer?

[ Alucard shakes his head, what a terrible man he was, hardly sincere or honest (something Alucard had come to expect of humans). ]

Forgive me, I have withheld much. I am no foe, I promise you. I am... [ He hesitated, how odd, some part of him wanted to use his birth name and not the alias he had come to be known by. But perhaps it was too soon to use the name his mother had given him. ] Alucard.

[ Honestly wrought with much worry now, the Elf barely knows how to respond now that he realizes he's no longer in Middle Earth. Uncertain what to ask or even where to begin, Haldir decides to settle for a mere introduction for now. ]

Alō-card?

[ The name sounds so foreign to him but he says nothing of it. ]

If you are truly not a foe, then we are well met. I am Haldir of Lothlórien.

[ The ex-dhampir smiles, somehow that foreign tongue brings a hint of mystery to a name that felt all-too familiar now. ]

Well met it is Haldir of Lothlorien. [ But unlike Haldir's pronunciation of Alucard's name the ex-dhampir butchers the name with his Romanian accent, "Haldir" comes out sounding far stronger than it should have. ]

[ The harshness of Alucard's accent doesn't escape the former Elf, especially since he never heard anyone speak in such a manner until now. ]

Manke naa lle tuulo?

[ Accidentally slipping back into Elven briefly, Haldir quickly corrects himself and asks in Westron regarding the man's origins. He can somewhat tell that this "Alucard" doesn't hail from Middle Earth. ]

Where are you from?

Transylvania, a rather mountainous and green region in Romania. I am not sure whether you will know such a place... Actually, now that I come to think of it, you are the first person who has asked me.

[ Ah, another foreign name that he did not know. Haldir couldn't help but glower somewhat. ]

I cannot fake being knowledgeable about the lands from which you hail from, friend. However, you've won my intrigue--

[ Before another word is said, a pang of sharp pain races through him like hot knife through butter. The contraption nearly takes a second tumble if Haldir hadn't caught it before it fell. ]

[ Although no empath Alucard notices the pain in Haldir's face and he frowns deeply; his worry is clear ]

What is wrong? What happened?! [ There is urgency in his voice, he's worried for someone he's only just met... ]

All is well, my friend.

[ Doing his best to stifle a pained groan, Haldir answers with a tense tone. ]

It's merely a reminder of the battle I've forsook.

[ Considering the terrible wound he suffered at the dirty blade of an Orc, Haldir is anything but well right now. ]

Forgive my forwardness, but you do not look at all well.

There are many doctors here, so you are in some luck, perhaps they can have a look at you and see what ails you my friend?

As much as I wish not to be poked and prodded by healers of any kind, I do wonder why such pain seems to haunt me now. The dull ache in my bones is quite new to me.
