[ Startled awake with a dying scream on his lips, Haldir gasps for air as he accidentally knocked the communicator to the floor. He's awake but the frigid whispers of Mandos are still quite loud in my mind. ]
In the name of the stars, where am I?!
[ Still desperately trying to breathe, the panic in his tone lowers somewhat. Haldir realizes that

He spoke, voice soft and perhaps a little slower than most, accented with a tinge of his Romania ancestry. ]
Ah, you must be new, I do not recognise your face.
As trivial as it may be to hear this, do not fret, you are not dead. Far from it, in fact.

An image appearing within stone?
[ A look of mild fright settled in Haldir's blue gaze as he leaned forward to grasp the stone again.]
...Is this some kind of sorcery?

Hm, [ He chimed ] possibly, [ He began, speaking to a blank image until the blonde's face came into view again. ] but doubtful, we were all issued with these contraptions on arrival, do not fret. They cause no harm or witchcraft as far as I can tell at least.

Then what is this?
[ He's mentioning the contraption they're using. ]
Witchcraft isn't uncommon in the lands of my ancestors but I fear I'm no longer walking upon familiar soil.

As for the true nature of this device? I cannot tell you, I know not. It is a method used to communicate with the others here, but its true purpose I do not know. I believe it may have some darker agenda but I have no proof. For now it is naught but a crystal ball to speak to people with.

[ He repeats the others words with some trouble since he honestly doesn't understand what is transpiring here. ]
Is it safe to assume you to be a "friend" instead of a "foe", hodoer?

Forgive me, I have withheld much. I am no foe, I promise you. I am... [ He hesitated, how odd, some part of him wanted to use his birth name and not the alias he had come to be known by. But perhaps it was too soon to use the name his mother had given him. ] Alucard.

[ The name sounds so foreign to him but he says nothing of it. ]
If you are truly not a foe, then we are well met. I am Haldir of Lothlórien.

Well met it is Haldir of Lothlorien. [ But unlike Haldir's pronunciation of Alucard's name the ex-dhampir butchers the name with his Romanian accent, "Haldir" comes out sounding far stronger than it should have. ]

Manke naa lle tuulo?
[ Accidentally slipping back into Elven briefly, Haldir quickly corrects himself and asks in Westron regarding the man's origins. He can somewhat tell that this "Alucard" doesn't hail from Middle Earth. ]
Where are you from?

I cannot fake being knowledgeable about the lands from which you hail from, friend. However, you've won my intrigue--
[ Before another word is said, a pang of sharp pain races through him like hot knife through butter. The contraption nearly takes a second tumble if Haldir hadn't caught it before it fell. ]

What is wrong? What happened?! [ There is urgency in his voice, he's worried for someone he's only just met... ]

[ Doing his best to stifle a pained groan, Haldir answers with a tense tone. ]
It's merely a reminder of the battle I've forsook.
[ Considering the terrible wound he suffered at the dirty blade of an Orc, Haldir is anything but well right now. ]
