crawfish boil [[gathering post!]]

May 20, 2012 10:07

Aibileen's not really sure what gave her the idea for boiling enough food for a hundred or so people. Lord knows, she spent enough time cooking for people and serving them too. But the difference, she's found, is that no one expects it, people help, and people enjoy it. She's got good friends here, and really isn't trying to leave any time soon. ( Read more... )

Matt wandered around the park with a plate of crawfish before finally settling on a bench. This was nice. Back in Hawaii, he only did these with his family, so being surrounded by relative strangers wasn't entirely unwelcome. Especially since there was beer.

Mary really has no idea what a crawfish is, and when she looks at them, decides to pass. But she does get a plate of other things, and when she sees Matt, she smiles and makes her way over.

"You wouldn't happen to be saving a seat for someone would you?"

She's probably the most dressed down Matt has ever seen her, but she's getting the hang of it. Some days.

She looked ... well, really great. Matt looked up at her with a smile, probably a little too glad to see her, really. "As a matter of fact," he said, scooting over. "Hi."

He always looks good to Mary, without even trying it seems. So, she sits and looks at him fondly with her plate.

"I'm just not sure I can eat those little things," she says, shaking her head with a little laugh.

After a night of pizza and Anne, Thor was feeling pretty good. Well, better. He was still a little bummed that things with Effy were fucked up and he still missed Sunshine who was awesome. But these baby lobsters looked good, too. And maybe he could sneak a beer. He perched on the back of a bench, feet on the seat, plate balanced on his knees.

Elle was mingling. Mingle. Mingle. How did you do that exactly. She was smiling at people as she skirted around them, only to turn and run straight into the bench and then spill her lemonade all over her blouse. Which unfortunately for Thor wasn't white but red.

"Ah! Dammit!" she was going to be all sticky!

"Dude," Thor noted with a nod. "Bummer. You totally spilled that all over yourself there."

She pouted, dejectedly, tossing the now empty cup to the ground as she sat at the bench. Elle didn't really care about littering. She tugged at the wet fabric, "Yeah... it sucks."

How fun was this?! Felecia was in exceedingly good spirits, which had something to do with a certain Captain. But here she was! Dressed in her sarong and sheer shirt, she skipped into the park, looking around, bouncing on the balls of her feet. How fun!

Aibileen's just getting rid of some trash from cooking when she sees Felecia and comes on over, smiling. "Well look, you came on out. How you doin'?" she asks cheerfully.

"I'm doing wonderfully! Hello, darling!" And Aibileen was drawn into a tight, swaying hug. "It's so good to see you!"

She can't help but grin, and she hugs back. "Likewise. Always glad to see you. You enjoyin' everything?"

Iphigenia was getting used to the village in all its strangeness, and she especially liked the park. When she saw the crowd of people there, she was curious, and quickly found herself there, looking around.

She soon got some food and sat down in the grass, eating delicately. She felt a bit shy, but liked to people-watch, enjoying hearing snippets of other people's conversations.

There's a woman with a toddler that sits down close to Iphigenia, and said toddler sees that there's a person close. He's learned one new word and it's his favorite, so he calls out.

"Hi!" Then he immediately gets shy and ducks his head, little dimples showing.

She turned to face the sound of the little boy's voice, surprised but grinning a little.

"Hello," she said brightly. "You don't need to be shy!"

Juliet looks up and smiles at Jonah's flirting. "Say hi," she prods her son.

He opens and closes his fist in a wave, again with a shy but pleased smile.

It had taken a Lot of convincing for Daryl to go to this thing without his crossbow. He held Sophia's hand and constantly scanned the park. Food smelled good, though. He'd give them that.

Sophia isn't really sure what's going on, and she's standing close to Daryl with wide eyes as she holds onto his hand on one side, and Michonne's on the other.

"Where do we want to sit? Back there in the shade?" Michonne asks, pointing at a place that's still mostly unoccupied.

"It's all right," Daryl whispered to Sophia, giving Michonne a nod. Out of the way would be good. "You like crawfish?" He asked the girl.

Shaking her head a little, she looks unsure. "I don't know. I've never had it."
