crawfish boil [[gathering post!]]
Aibileen's not really sure what gave her the idea for boiling enough food for a hundred or so people. Lord knows, she spent enough time cooking for people and serving them too. But the difference, she's found, is that no one expects it, people help, and people enjoy it. She's got good friends here, and really isn't trying to leave any time soon. Even if she does miss Minny. Minny can go on ahead and come here.
Early in the morning cooking, she got help from Faith, and setting up, all kinds of people came to help her. Someone even brought speakers so that Cajun music was playing. It felt right - felt like back home with her grandmama before she moved out to Mississippi. Reminds her of when she was still a little girl, maybe about Miss Angel's age, running around barefoot, not knowing that in just a few years she'd be raising babies and cleaning up after people for the next forty or so years.
She shows a few people how to eat the crawfish, then dispatches them to help other people so she can sit back. That's the good thing about this - she can relax, too. Cook for friends and laugh with them too. It's a nice day to be in the village.
