Aibileen's not really sure what gave her the idea for boiling enough food for a hundred or so people. Lord knows, she spent enough time cooking for people and serving them too. But the difference, she's found, is that no one expects it, people help, and people enjoy it. She's got good friends here, and really isn't trying to leave any time soon.

She'd come early to help Aibileen cooking the crawfish, along with Ed in a stroller. This was nice. The music, the food. She might have been smiling more than she had in a long while.

He had a plate of crawfish, leaning against a nearby tree, as he let himself soak up the music and atmosphere. That smallest reminder of home.

Popping another small piece into her mouth, she licked her thumb clean while glancing around for anyone she might know.

The voice came from behind her as arms slid around her shoulders and a familiar rough sideburn scraped her cheek when Logan pressed his against hers in greeting.
"Smelled the food ages ago, couldn't find you to tell ya...but I guess that's a moot point." he joked, kissing her temple and releasing her to take a seat at her side.

"Because it's free food, duh? I could sense it all the way on the other side of the village." She was half kidding as she glanced over at him. "Want some?"

Chalking it up to muscle memory of some kind, Logan chewed on the last of his pilfered crawfish and gestured to the rest of her dish.
"You know the head's the best part." he informed her after swallowing. "Suck it out through the shell, that's the sweetest meat."
