crawfish boil [[gathering post!]]

Aibileen's not really sure what gave her the idea for boiling enough food for a hundred or so people. Lord knows, she spent enough time cooking for people and serving them too. But the difference, she's found, is that no one expects it, people help, and people enjoy it. She's got good friends here, and really isn't trying to leave any time soon.

How fun was this?! Felecia was in exceedingly good spirits, which had something to do with a certain Captain. But here she was! Dressed in her sarong and sheer shirt, she skipped into the park, looking around, bouncing on the balls of her feet. How fun!

Aibileen's just getting rid of some trash from cooking when she sees Felecia and comes on over, smiling. "Well look, you came on out. How you doin'?" she asks cheerfully.

"I'm doing wonderfully! Hello, darling!" And Aibileen was drawn into a tight, swaying hug. "It's so good to see you!"

[aibileen]

She can't help but grin, and she hugs back. "Likewise. Always glad to see you. You enjoyin' everything?"

"I am! You did all this, Aibileen! It's lovely, really." Felecia looked around. "I'm still not sure I trust those little spiny things, but how fun!"

[aibileen]

"Now, I had a feelin' you'd go and say that, so here's what I did for you." She goes back to a table and uncovers a plate. No spiny little things, just the meat. "Go on 'head and try it."

"You - are - " Felecia gave her a kiss on the cheek. "A very kind person." Far kinder than most people Felecia had ever met, honestly. She delicately took a little piece and tasted it. Chew -chew - "Mmm!"

Aibileen grins a little. "That mean you like it?" People have a hard time getting past the heads, is all.

"It's very good!" Felecia reached for another piece. "You must have slaved for hours!"

[aibileen]

"Was up pretty early, but I had good help. An' when you really want somethin', ain't too hard to get up and do it. Plus, look, everyone happy," she smiles.

Felecia looked at Aibileen instead. She, herself, wasn't known for being generous. And neither was the drag queen community if she was going honest! And to see it still managed to give the drag queen pause. "I think," Felecia finally said quietly, "that I could learn a great deal from you."

She's surprised to hear it, really, and she blinks just a little. "From me?" She teaches thing sometimes to people who want to know, but that's all she knows.

"Well, yes," she said quietly. "I haven't met many people who are as nice as you." She wasn't, really, that nice.

[aibileen]

Sometimes, Aibileen wonders what it is she does exactly, that makes folks like her. All she does is what she knows. But in this place, she seems to have picked up some friends along the way.

She pulls Felecia into another hug, careful because of the plate. "Well, I think you somethin' real special too, Miss Felecia."

"Oh!" Felecia hugged back, surprised enough to make her eyes sting. "Well." When she pulled back, she said, "you know what we ought to do?" And without waiting for an answer, she blurted out, "go shopping!"

Aibileen is a modest woman. She's never had much, and gives what she can back to everyone else. Village didn't just decide to give her all this food, anyway. So Felecia's offer catches her off guard.

"Miss Felecia, what I wanna go shoppin' for?"
