Expecting reason from TV Journalism these days is like trying to walk your dog past the remains of a dead squirrel:

You: Leave it!
Media/Dog: *drops down and rolls in the mess* *comes to you for pets

It was obvious from the start that Lochte's tale...was....not making sense and the media should have let him alone. Not blaming the media, he certainly fed them....but still. His choices! So bad. Millions of dollars thrown away. What will happen to his career???????????????

Our daughter heard that the whole thing started as a lie to his mom, to cover up something he'd done, and then she told the media and the whole thing got out of control. Only Ryan Lochte could go from lying to his mother to setting off an international incident. But the way the media pounced on it... what, there weren't enough actual sports to focus on? :(

I'm going up to Oregon alone, on a plane. Nobody else can go, and I want to see my mother since we didn't make our annual trip up there (HalfshellHusband hasn't been able to travel at all for about 6 months). My mom is 90, so once a year at Christmas just isn't enough. I'll get to see my sisters for a bit, too. :)
