Literature survey

I've had several conversations with various people lately about books that we read and loved, and I got thinking about what I might have in common with my friends list. I know there are some books that just about everybody in my generation read in school and can be quoted from as a sort of cultural shorthand. Others I know are pretty damn obscure ( Read more... )

I only glanced at your copy of the Mary Rose book at Northern Lights, so I didn't mark that one. I did mark some series of which I have only read the first book or three.

though some of the middle school ones I read in high school and some of the high school ones, and A Midwife's Tale, Laurel Thatcher Ulrich was actually assigned in middle school. which was really odd.

Ditto. I'm pretty sure I read Mists of Avalon in middle school.

my 7th grade english teacher told me to read it because she had heard it was good and thought I might like it. Little did she know how adult it was...

That's a good point. I probably did read it then, too, since my 8th grade did a whole section on Arthurian legend. I just couldn't remember for sure, and I know I read it again in high school and that's when it resonated most with me.

i never read ravens book but as he is a good friend of mine i can definaly say its good. lol
