Eek is old, and healthy but stupid. The subtlety of litter boxes now escapes him. This is making me a very stressed guy. Eek has apparently changed his mind about using the cat carrier as a litter box- this after I gave up on keeping it clean, declared it to be a (sixth) litter box and bought a new, wildly expensive cat carrier.

The obvious next question is, what *has* he been using as a litter box for the past week?

Part of the cat-care plan for this trip was that Eek was going to spend a lot of time locked in the bathroom with his food- not all day, but enough that he'd eat enough of it to keep his weight up. So I've made it through another year. Most of us have, in fact. The tree is up and decorated, with many thanks to Lisa. The picture includes Lisa (the human), and Annie, Eek and Nim. Annie was photoshopped in after the fact, of course, because she and Nim still can't be in the same room. I think they're getting along a little better, though. ( Read more... )

Eek is starting to refuse his pill pockets, those little blobs of doughy goodness by which I slip him his meds. This doesn't bode well for our relationship, as I'm going to have to start giving him meds by force soon ( Read more... )

I've been locking poor elderly Eek up in the evenings with an open can of fancy cat food. He seems to love it, and he's been eating a *lot*. So why is he dropping weight? He's down about a half pound in a few weeks!

Bloodwork is being done. Perhaps his thyroid meds need adjustments.

Annie passed her FIV and feline leukemia tests with flying colors. She's still in the bathroom, but she's now separated from the other cats by blk's baby gate and a great pile of catnip and spray-on happy cat pheromones. There has been some growling and a little hissing, but I think things are going to be OK.
