A crate for Eek?

Eek is old, and healthy but stupid. The subtlety of litter boxes now escapes him. This is making me a very stressed guy. I complained about this enough that thriceajoy suggested that I get Eek a nice big crate and let him spend most of his life in a predictable, easy-to-clean environment.

I went down to Petco, where a nice English gentleman told me that he'd had to do the same for an elderly Siamese at one point. It looks doable. It looks like it would cost me about $150 to do it right. I'd have to clean the crate a lot, but at least I wouldn't be stepping in anything on my way to the shower. (Assuming, of course, that it really is Eek and not one of the others making the messes).

So, what do you think? Should I do this? I'm feeling pretty guilty, but I may be able to arrange some sunlight and he wouldn't have to be in there *all* the time.
