The Continuing Adventures of Hubert and Smiegelman

Fucking cold out there. Right now, the mercury's at 21F, and we're only supposed to reach 27F today, with more snow tonight. But I am in New England, and it is January. Which brings me to this, courtesy JaNell Golden, an image which greatly amuses me:

Ha. I like the implications that The Drowning Girl gives to the gruesome manner in which Elizabeth Short was murdered. What a fascinating take.

Well...it doesn't really. It looks at it more as a source of morbid fascination.

One of the reasons I loved The Red Tree was its eclectic knowledge; I'm hoping for the same from Drowning Girl (even if, as a reader, I'm trespassing upon Imp's thoughts).

That image amused me too, especially seeing how England seized up after just a few inches of snow.

You will get that, in abundance.

I'm glad to say that Providence remained entirely functional.

I'm going to circulate the image to a great number of my friends in warmer climes experiencing severe snow for the first time. While I enjoy hyperbole for humor's sake, this gets a bit much.

And I'm from DC. We go mad if there's a little ice on the road. Everyone is afraid of snow on the ground, or threats of snow on the sky. When I see people panic at the flakes, all I think of is the voice over from one of HBO's "Game of Thrones" promos:

"My sweet summer child, what do you know of fear? Fear is for the long night, when the snows come a hundred feet deep. Fear is for the winter..."

Nice.

Why did it take me this long to figure this out? chris_walsh January 15 2011, 18:49:38 UTC
Today was going to be a day off, snowy graveyards, etc., but it's so cold out.

Get on good terms with the ghuls. Maybe they'd let you connect your building to their tunnels. Ease of commuting! And a breakthrough in human-ghul relationships...

There are photographs from a spot in our basement that you need to see. I've been meaning to post them, and will do it soon.

A long and delightful phone conversation with Lee Moyer regarding the cover design for Two Worlds and In Bewteen.

That is so great. Lee is a wonderful guy. He was great friends with my ex-wife and actually taught me how to work in color rather than just greyscale. That was a great foundation for my tattoo career. If it hadn't been for Lee, I may not have gotten to where I am today. I still need to get a print of his Lovecraft painting that was used for the reprint of Lurker in the Lobby.

I am sure your cover will be fantastic.

I met him at the HPLFF, and we sort of hit it off straightaway.

Sometimes I forget what a small place the world is. Glad to know I'm not the only ex-pat of the DC scene who loves greygirlbeast.
