Alaina is coming home tommorrow Feb. 10th. She is doing great. short and sweet

well, we have been busy the last week or so. Alaina has moved to Mary Free Bed and is showing great progress. She is walking very well, and has good movement in her left arm and the left side of her face. She got the sttches out of her head yesterday, and got the green light to to go swimming. today Alaina tried to escape her bed...she rolled her self all the way to the edgeof her bed....she also took a few steps from her wheel chair to her bed, all Annette did was steady her, but it was Alaina doing the work. she actually supported herself on BOTH legs and took a couple of steps...TWICE!!!! they are going to attempt to get her to ( Read more... )

10 days ago my 6 year old was a happy little girl. She was normal, active playing the wii, jumping, dancing, well normal.. Now she's in a hospital bed unable to communicate, follow simple commands, she can barely move her left arm or leg. we can't tell if she even understands what is being said to her. Today has been a great day, Alaina has been responsive to stimulus, and she has been awake and opening her eyes alot. She seems to recognize whats going on around her, and is able to follow some commands to move her hands arms and legs. She is SMILING!!!! She started some physical therapy today. one of alaina's nurses said she asked Alaina to squeeze her hand and she did it!!!!!! it was a delayed reaction but she did it!!!!!!!!!!!!

yesterday we found out that the stroke she had was larger than the doctors originally thought. They predicted that the swelling would not be completetly gone for another 6-8 weeks and that we shpuld expect problem with language and memory as well as the left side of her body to be very weak. We were hoping to be able to take Alaina off the res. today. She had a CT at 12:30 in the morning. The Dr. said that there was no change in the amount of swelling in her brain. So it will be Weds. or Thurs. before they do another CT. She is heavily sedated and will have to stay that way for awhile. Today her vitals were up and down. They are ( Read more... )
