Alaina Progress
well, we have been busy the last week or so. Alaina has moved to Mary Free Bed and is showing great progress. She is walking very well, and has good movement in her left arm and the left side of her face. She got the sttches out of her head yesterday, and got the green light to to go swimming. She is on a regular diet again and I believe her feeding tube is out. She is speaking well, but this area will take the longest to recover. I've noticed that she often has to stop to think of the right words to convey her message. Her thinking process doesn't seem to be showing any signs of slowing down, though. Puzzles and thinking games don't seem to be a challenge for her, and they never really have been even before the surgery. She could come home as early as next week. She'll probably need either a walker or a wheelchair, maybe both. The house will most likely need to be modified to accomadate her needs. We are going to try to move the front door to the front of the house facing the street, and build a ramp in what little yard we have there.
