[Rukia glances down at her hand, almost distantly reflecting on the current sensation of slowly being pulled apart. Her eyes are wide in shock- though after a few moments, she calms down.

When she begins to speak, her voice is lowered and soft; quiet as if musing to herself. Her eyes are downcast.]

The human world… I have grown far too attached to it. I care too deeply for those I have met there. They will fight to protect each other regardless of ability. It is their inner strength and resolve that empowers them, striving to protect their friends and family. I do not have such purity of heart. No… I am not deserving of knowing them. Chad, Ishida, Orihime… They are those close to my heart. I cannot abandon them by dying here. I will not fail them by allowing their world to be destroyed.

[She pauses, her gaze drifting downwards. She closes her eyes.]

My friends and I- we worked for a future in which no one remembers what we actually did- or if they do, it's probably all been rewritten and misinterpreted. But it's a better future than the one we saw. We probably won't see the new future, not much of it anyway, but it's for the people of then to live in anyway, like Robo- I'm sure I caught a glimpse of him when we were passing through and it's pretty hard to tell with him but you don't travel with people and not pick up a few things about expressions even when they really shouldn't have them. Even Magus started making expressions the rest of us could work with after a while. [most of which were grumpy, but they were still workable] And there's nothing wrong with our own time- that's where and when family and most of our friends are ( ... )

And the world- the world's had enough drained out of it already, from another parasite inside it. Sure, the earthquakes have stopped, but it doesn't need someone else attacking it- I don't know how it can recover from Lavos, but we have to do the best by the world that we can, and if that means doing what we have to to protect it, then I'll do that. Because there are people I love, and things I want to make. Construction helps- it's something for others to use as well.
