So, we arrived in Venezia two days ago. The first day we roamed around looking for a hostel for a few hours, until we found °Archies Rooms°-- very cheap at only 16 Euro a night and there are only 2 other people in the room. A nice change (at the last place we stayed only had single sex dorms with 20 people in each, blah!) and Archie is great. He ( Read more... )

We have seen: the Duomo (big dome, really cool), the Uffizi Gallery (biggest museum in Italy), the Gallerie d'Academia (houses a bunch of Michaelangelo's first sculptures as well as THE DAVID), The Pitti Palace (palatine gallery--more art), the outside of Ft. Belvedere and the Piazza della Signora (you guessed it--more art). To sum up lots of art ( Read more... )

Not much time left on our internet card so we'll write more later. For now, know that this is the most gorgeous city we've been to. Tuscany is misty mountains and lush grass and trees, with the river Arno cutting across the city. Clean, safe, not stinky or full of trash and nice and quiet. We started the day off early (as usual) with a little breakfast and a shot of sweet sweet espresso and took the metro to Vatican City. It just so happens that once a month, on the last Sunday of the month, entrance to the Vatican, which is usually 10 euros, was free.
