For some random reason, the red line car I rode home in yesterday had only four of its flourescent lights lit for the entire trip. (On the old style cars, which this was, that's a moderately common *temporary* failure mode where there are gaps in the tracks, but this lasted the whole trip, not something on the order of a fraction of a carlength ( Read more... )

So, someone on my friends list made a friends-only post with an obituary of someone who died in New York two years ago. And of course, it was the typical obituary: this was a good person who enjoyed life and didn't have any problems, or something.
