For some random reason, the red line car I rode home in yesterday had only four of its flourescent lights lit for the entire trip. (On the old style cars, which this was, that's a moderately common *temporary* failure mode where there are gaps in the tracks, but this lasted the whole trip, not something on the order of a fraction of a carlength
