"Nothing about us, without us" has been the motto of the disabilities rights movement for as long as I've been aware of it. I had thought the phrase came out of the 1960s US independent living movement, but a quick google suggests it comes from South African disability advocacy, and before that, Eastern Europe in a non-disability context. Yesterday I met the people who make students' exams happen at my University. As you may recall from a couple of weeks ago, I'd raised concern about how I'd been treated by a small minority of coworkers when invigilating exams. Today is World Sleep Day. You might like this blog post about it. The advice there is good advice about sleep hygiene, likely to be relevant to most people I think. But some of us notice that our sleep disorders give us a different view. I'm glad to see that the link to World Sleep Day does take us to consideration of sleep disorders.

Today (14 March) is World Kidney Day. A fellow blogger of mine on WordPress wrote this before realising that he'd got the date wrong! Kidneys that work properly aren't very glamorous, but we need them to stay alive. Kidneys that don't work properly are seriously nasty.

Disability Power and Pride is holding its inaugural ball.  Wish I could go, alas, I'm too far away :-(
