Yesterday I met the people who make students' exams happen at my University. As you may recall from a couple of weeks ago, I'd raised concern about how I'd been treated by a small minority of coworkers when invigilating exams. Since this is a public post, I won't say much, but the meeting went well. The lady I'd called 'the big boss' saw the funny side of my calling her that!
The outcome was an agreement that training materials for invigilators will be upgraded. I declined a suggestion that I could write the new materials on a voluntary basis (I'm self-employed: when anybody wants me to do anything, squids (£££) become relevant) but I'd already emailed my opinions and suggestions. Those are now to be arranged in the right format to become part of the training materials.
I'm a bit concerned that if you offer crip-awareness training on an opt-in basis, the only people who'll opt in will be the people who don't really need the training. But I've done what's in my power to do.
