Al Gore is coming to Harvard to speak about global warming. The lecture is outside, so Harvard is serving cider and hot soup to guests to counteract the unseasonably chilly weather today.

So FastLane did fix my account, separated out the other woman's account, billed her, and refunded the money to me. So although their data entry person is a dolt, their customer service people are pretty efficient.

Got one of those transponders that lets you fly through tolls? Nifty, aren't they? Yes, Big Brother is watching you, but perhaps not as carefully as you thought. I called to update my credit card info, and because I didn't have my account number, the service rep had to look me up by name. Except that someone had changed my address. The Papaya got in trouble in school. She had to apologize to the substitute teacher for being belligerent. The substitute teacher said she couldn't hang her breakfast waffle on her coat hook in her cubby, even though the Papaya said it was ART, for chrissakes.

It's like a dream come true . . . a baby that stops crying when her daddy serenades her with the guitar . . .

Saturday in Chinese school my five-year-old learned how to buy body parts at auction . . . (puppet body parts, of course). She bids high.
Oh, and we had another excellent baby girl on Jan. 10, who I will call the Whimsey in this journal. Hence my 12-wk absence from all things LJ.

Wreath on door. Check.
Tree up and decorated. Check.
Stockings hung by the microwave with care. Check.
Kids given spray bottles of food coloring and water to decorate the snow outside. Check.

It looks like a sled dog team devoured a polar bear and then peed copiously all around the front door. Next time, the kids get green and blue bottles.

Sorry for the LJ logorrhea today. It's the first day I've felt free to notice and record the world, rather than work my way through a mountain of work, for several months. I'm sure it won't last ( Read more... )
