I am not quite sure how to described what happened last night to this area. Myself and my loved ones are all alright, so that is a blessing. Power is really spotty around the city, though it came back on for our apartment this morning. Much better this week than I was a couple weeks ago. I've decide to pursue a masters in applied mathematics starting in the fall, and am pretty much officially accepted. I was even offered a TA position, so now I get to look forward to being awkwardly hit on by freshmen as well ( Read more... )

So a student from my program killed themselves this week. And they haven't even sent out a fucking email or had a meeting about it or anything, and they already cleaned out his cubicle... and I usually really like the faculty here, but they are just handling this so so badly -- I mean there are only like 40 students here, we pretty much all know ( Read more... )
