I've got a question regarding freezing lasagna. Because I'm starting work on Monday, I want to have some meals frozen that I can just shove in the oven and cook for a while to keep things easy for myself. Can I make up the sauces, layer them with the no-boil pasta sheets, and freeze it like that, or do I have to bake the assembled product in the ( Read more... )

1. You don't have to bake it prior to freezing it. You can freeze it layered with the no-boil pasta sheets.

2. You could add chunks of chocolate/chocolate chips (they don't tend to melt, so you'll end up with a chocolatey crunch in each bite). Or heath bars broken into pieces. Or um. Sorry, I'm all out of good ideas now. Or, actually, you could put dried cherries in the batter. Hrm. You could use white-chocolate chips for a little contrast. Apparently I wasn't out of ideas, just out of good ones!

1. Thanks! :D

2. Thanks for the ideas. Springing off from the health bar thing I might try digestive bisguits... :D

i like to add peanut butter chips to my brownies, but if there is a nut allergy you could add butterscotch chips or white chocolate chips or even dark chocolate chunks......i've also tried dried cranberries with success....

Cornflakes, like into afghan biscuits? :P

Hrm, mightn't the wetness of the batter cause the cornflakes to go soggy before they cook?

Thanks :)

How about just topping them with corflakes then?

Extremely likely, actually, although it hadn't occurred to me.

... and now I really want to know. Sigh. I don't actually have any cornflakes in the house...

The equivalent here (I'm in the UK) seems to be a Dime bar, which seems like an awesome idea, thanks! :D

It's like a Dime - hard toffee coated with milk chocolate :)

Oooh Smarties! (The UK Smarties, which are like MnMs, but taste better to me.) They'd be nice :D

I've always found Smarties go weirdly tasteless if cooked with a wet batter like brownies - M&Ms really do better in this situation, unless you can get baking Smarties!

Really? I've loved them in everything I've put them in, and the orange ones give a lovely flavour to quite an area surrounding them, while not being too powerful.
