We are back again in Gainesville. We had a very nice trip to Tallahassee. Arrived there Wednesday and went to dinner at an old-timey seafood restaurant on the coast. Yesterday morning was pretty uneventful. Ina was having her hair done, so they left us to our own devices for lunch, so we went to Ivy's Grill. Mmm! I just called Jack and Ina again.  They got their electricity back about noon, and were throwing away all the stuff from their freezer.  No trees fell around their house -- only a lot of leaves.  They said it was still raining quite a lot.

My parents have lived in Gainesville, FL for the last 55 years, and have never had a direct hit by a hurricane.  I guess Hurricane Frances is also not a direct hit, but it is affecting them more than any other hurricane since they have lived there.  I called them last night and they said they had lost power about 5 PM.  So they ate all the ice ( Read more... )
